Rivera at #8

He had a similar QB in McNabb and did nothing with him.

Except get to the NFC championship for 4 straight years. Mean while still haven't had back to back winning seasons.  Mcnabb is not on Cam's level, the second Mcnabb left Reid his career went don't the toilet.

If Reid can make Michael Vick look like a pro bowl QB, I can only imagine what he can do with Cam.

Sounds about right. Rivera has his flaws, surely, but so does other coaches on that list.

Reid is such a frustrating case of a head coach who could be one of the greats if he could just comprehend the concept of time management. The times he has cost his team because the man has no sense of urgency and wastes his timeouts.

Meh, the only thing Rivera has on arians is a SB appearance, but I'd still call arians a better coach. The other two have SB appearances (and rings in Harbaughs case) and definitely would call them better.  I want to like Ron, but poor personnel decisions (coaching staff and players) and the refusal of timid Ron to go away make it hard. He seems like a really good motivator but still learning the other aspects.

When you say it like that its not that impressive

when you say it like what it really was its much more distinct

rivera literally owned his ass on the biggest stage in the NFC. We literally obliterated their ass on the way to the superbowl.  Rivera didnt just "have a SB appearance"

rivera literally shut arians out himself in a dominating and humiliating fashion

Head to head... Only time Arians ever came close was 2013 before the Riverboat went into full effect. Arians has benefitted from a spectacular roster his entire HC career. Rivera has only had that luck since '13 so when looking at regular season career records one must take that into account. I would take Rivera over Arians as a HC and it's not close.

All I'm saying is Arians has a 69% winning percentage as a HC, Ron has a 56%.  I'm not saying Arians is way better and it isn't even close, I'd put them in the same tier.  But I do think Arians is a better HC.  Head to head is one thing, winning % is another. I'd rather be better against the NFL than against one specific coach.

I'd put him on par with Arians but ahead of Reid. The walrus has been at this a long time and has nothing to show for it.

However, I'm still waiting for consecutive winning seasons. It's insane that we have never done that in over 20 years in the NFL. It's actually pretty sorry.

and we have had Cam Newton for 5 years, But this is the year everything comes together.

I'm sorry if you younguns have not seen Porky's.

I'd rather win playoff games.

Fair counterpoint. I think it's been more his QBs than his coaching that's been the problem, and he's gotten as much as one could possibly hope for out of Carson palmer. And Ron and Arians have the same number of playoff wins.

You can't put Rivera above Harbaugh.  That guy can coach his ass off and he's not afraid to let go of an OC who ain't getting the job done. (Cam Cameron)

For me personally I'd say Rivera is in the  8-12 range being generous.

That's debatable.

Since Reid has been in KC, roughly the same amount of time as Rivera in Carolina, Rivera had done more.

Reid is a good coach and would do well with Carolina.  I don't think with the same squad he would ever do more.
