Shoe advice

Charlotte Running Company and Fleet Feet are quality stores as well. Once you know your needs (pronation/supination), check Academy Sports as their prices are less and they have them sorted by foot mechanics. I prefer Brooks, but as stated before, I always get last year's model. The last pair I bought were Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 (originally $130 but I paid $55 because the GTS 17s are out now).

NB has always been great for me for every-day wear - 990s.  They are obviously friendly for your grizzly paws. I threw in some are-you-gellin? dr scholls pads with massage bumps in a pair of nice NBs that I had and it felt like I was getting a foot massage everywhere I walked.

I've got some brooks running and brooks trail running. I like both pairs.  I am having foot problems of my own but I can't see that they are contributing to the problems. REI will typically run some pretty good deals on last years' models.

Bottom line is that feet are all different. I think running stores all have pretty lengthy return and exchange policies.

Just curious here, but would a great set of boots be better than running shoes?

I don't have bad feet, so I have no idea.

I don't have bad feet per se, but I've always hurt after long stints in boots from USMC to fire service and EMS, even expensive boots made for comfort.

Yesterday was my first day walking all day without any assistance and today my ankles are screaming, especially the right. I start out patient PT tomorrow so I'm having to ice and elevate today. It sucks.

A lot of what you're feeling is the result of your ankles and feet compensating for your bad knees and getting used to walking to alleviate pain. Now that your knees are fixed, you're using your feet and ankles in ways they haven't been used to in a long time.

It's very weird already.

Believe it or not, skechers are damn good shoes.

I was actually going to recommend skechers in this thread.  Very under rated for the price - my wife and I have both had plantar faciitis, wear custom orthopedic insoles. And now wer skechers.   My wifes job keeps her on her feet almost all day - I bought her a pair of skecher work/ athletic type shoes - she says they are the best shoes she has ever worn.

I'm on my feet about half my day and do a lot of short area walking. I'm open to anything so thanks for the recommendation.

So I went to Run For Your Life on Mallard Creek today where they did a gait assessment and discovered that I over pronate. They were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I lucked up and bought a pair of NB that a guy ordered and never picked up so I got a pretty substantial discount. I'll get a second pair soon as I like to rotate shoes daily.

Thanks again for the advice, as usual the Huddle comes through.

I never saw this thread the first time around, but it's ironic that you started out saying NB were bad, yet buying them in the end. If you go to any hospital/doctors office, look at their feet. They walk around in New Balance all day long. Not for fashion. And they cost no more than other quality shoes.

    • This is why it's probably going to be hard to trade down. This draft is fairly light on top tier talent but pretty deep in talent of that next tier down. I don't think there's going to be a lot of teams clamoring to move up and numerous teams might be entertaining moving down. Not a good market to trade down if that's the case.
    • And if they can't find a reasonable trade down (I think we would need a 2nd rounder this year bare minimum to make any trade down worth it). I would definitely expect Dan to trade UP for an EDGE or LB in the top half of R2. Just makes too much sense. We also have a plethora of mid round picks to use as ammo.
    • I don't mean to make this a mock draft thread particularly,  but every time I do a mock I have been investigating the talent that goes off the board between picks 8 and our low 2nd rounder pick 57. There is a gargantuan amount of talent still left on the board in the top half of the 2nd round every time I do one. Losing our original 2nd round pick to the Bears as the last pick of the Bryce trade stings badly .  I'm particularly looking at elite players like Carson Schwesinger (LB), Luther Burden (WR), Matthew Golden (WR), Maxwell Hairston (CB) , Nick Scourton , Landon Jackson, Donavan Ezeraku (all DEs/OLBs) . The sweet spot in this draft really feels like pick 15 to 40 - ish. This is why the Bears should be making bank with this draft. I don't know how realistic a trade down is from 8, but if we could pick up any teams higher 2nd rounder and still grab their 1st? We'd be cooking with gas man.  Say for example we get Tet McMillan at pick 8, if you wait all the way to 57 you stand the chance of not getting any impact pass rushers in this draft. And I don't think this team can afford that.  I'd personally love for them to take a break from drafting wrs in R1 or R2 (i think we've taken one in the top 2 rounds in the majority of the past few years), and stick to repairing the nfls worse defense in history (in terms of total points against iirc, or was it yards? Also included my most recent mock as an example . Don't put too much into the  late round selections lol
