4-5 Situation - Howard, Marvin, Zeller, Kaminsky

Our most common lineup last year was Kemba-Batum-MKG-Marvin-Zeller

2. Kemba-Batum-MKG-Marvin-Frank

3. Kemba-Batum-MKG-Marvin-Hibbert

4. Kemba-Batum-MKG-Frank-Zeller

5. Kemba-Bellinelli-Batum-Marvin-Zeller

6. Kemba-Bellinelli-Batum-Frank-Zeller

Now you have to imagine if we're seeing a long term fit with Zeller and Frank, but they'll have to continue to progress and gain minutes.  HOWEVER, we just landed Dwight Howard and we used Marvin to his max capacity last season.

So the dilemma I see is: We've got two big contracts in Howard and Marvin with two promising young guys in Kaminsky and Zeller..but is someone is going to be rendered expendable here?

Would we be better off relieving ourselves of Marvin?  Or maybe trading Cody? Or does this seem like a good group to create lineups around?

In general--I just think we're kind of sitting with players like Marvin, Lamb, and MKG right now.  It's not that they're awful but they are just sucking up minutes, cap, or both and don't fit long term.

We just resigned Cody until 2020-21 and Frank will be on his rookie contract until 19-20. I think we don't need to worry about this at all. The biggest issue we have will be Kemba, but since Kemba and Dwight expire at the same time we will have plenty of money. That Howard trade really helped free up Miles 12m at the right time.

Now, as far as fit is concerned. Zeller just makes everybody look better. He will help out the second unit tremendously. I think he will be a great fit with Monk and Frank in that 2nd unit.

Teams go small, take out Dwight put Zeller in. Marvin not shooting well, but in Frank and team with Dwight or Zeller.

We now have options, something we didn't have last year.

We are in a great situation. Starting 5 Kemba Nic MKG Williams Howard. 2nd unit. (New PG from free agency) Monc Bacon/Lamb Frank Cody. We have options 1st time in years. Any real Hornet fan knows and understand this is a great situation. Lot of work to do but I like the challenge!!!

I see Frank being the ideal fit with Dwight, and Marv with Zeller.

Comparing Marv and Frank: Marv is the better rebounder and defender of the two, while I see Frank as the better overall offensive talent.

Frank's rebounding liability is completely made up for by Dwight, and I think Frank's creativity offensively (and range) opens the lane up for Dwight.

Marv can play well with either (he obviously is a solid stretch 4 as well, with range), but if Frank continues to build off of his second half performance from last year, he will need to garner those starting minutes with Dwight.

Cool cool trying gauge some opinions here; didn't know if anyone thought Zeller became a tradeable asset or whatnot. Seems like a really solid group on the offensive side that can rebound on both ends.

I really like our bigs now that we have a legit shot blocker down low. Zeller is a unique big because of how he moves. A PnR defending big like him is a rare commodity, and I love his passing and his rolling dunks.

Much like MKG, I believe Zeller is "learning to shoot the three" away from being a completely different beast though. I hope to see both extend their range. If they do, look out!

And a back up PG.  I am not sure if that was mentioned........Oh NVM.

Yes I would love for them to bring back Woods  and sign Premesenke ( whatever) the C from Gonzo and a backup PG

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
