Me2.  Fasting 18-6 is working for me.  Energy levels are amazing during the day.  If I can cut more carbs I think this is the huckleberry...but high protein all the way.. 5'10 185 currently, so I have work to do.

I'll probably never completely give up meat. Went vegan for a few weeks inspired by Igo this spring, and it was good.

I'm thinking about going for a month vegan soon. I find it's easier to abstain when you know it's only for a specific time frame. I've never had a weight problem, but I like the way it feels. I was never expecting how well I would sleep, and wake up feeling refreshed when I went vegan.

You should try fasting and get even more benefits.

I actually add fat and triglycerides to my coffee each day. It works wonders. I add coconut oil, real butter and MCT oil to my coffee. It takes some getting used to but I love it now.

A diet I feel is very personal and not one size meets all. For me both my parents have genetically high triglycerides but no heart disease. I feel if my main enemy is that and diabetes I'm going to attack that at a early age. Maybe keep some wear off my body when middle age hits. Won't lie though it would be nice to eat like I did in 03 and carry a 7% body fat level off of hotdog, donuts, and pizza lol.

It's a life changer for me. I don't crave the meat it's the dairy that I end up submitting to. Either way it's better than fried foods every day. That stuff wears you down bad.

Dairy has casomorphins that act like a small dose of heroin. This is what helps keep calves coming back to the utter to drink and helps form the mother/infant bond.

The casomorphins attach to the very same receptors that morphine does. They are just not as strong.

This is what makes dairy and cheese so addictive, especially to those who lean towards addiction anyways.

Between the casomorphines, extreme amounts of fat and salt ... cheese is probably the most addictive and worst thing for us.

Addictive - check

Processed food - check

Leads to cardiovascular disease - check

Laced with hormons that lead to cancers - check

I think switching to this diet overnight is too daunting of a task for most people. Maybe a staged transition, eliminating one bad food at a time, would help the change seem more attainable? I am nowhere near going full plant based, but I find myself paying closer attention to my diet as I get older. The digestive issues after pounding buffalo wings have gotten much worse as I've entered my 30's.

It's different for everyone. For me going cold broccoli was the way to go. I'm not a half measures type of personality. I think of it as food controlling against what I want and know I should do. That pisses me off. Then it's fug that, I'm not doing it.

What it comes down to is good ole self motivation, responsibility, and control.

Also its in almost every dish. I'm ok when at home but eating out is hard with dairy.

It is very daunting, but probably the best way to do it. Otherwise, you can try to go 5 days a week rather than the full 7. Slowly eliminating one food at a time will hardly help unless you are eating fried wings multiple times a week and you cut those off the bat, because there are probably so many that have to be eliminated.

I was about to have bariatric surgery when I decided to try diet before volunteering for a dangerous and unnecessary procedure. I started with a modified Atkins and had success right away when a doctor told me about the Ketogenic diet and since I switched to that and implemented intermittent fasting the weight has fallen off. I love my diet and the health benefits go far beyond just the weight loss.

I was willing to jump in with both feet but wound up easing into as I learned more about the horrific effects of carbs, especially the refined variety.

I was sick sick of it and made a decision that I could either continue with my current lifestyle and succumb to diabetes and heart disease or make a change. I thank God I made the right decisions.

starting with the fact that we just don't need carbohydrates.

Except for the fact that the primary source of energy for all primates on earth are carbohydrates.

Millions of years of evolution disagree with your statement.

Not to mention the healthiest populations on earth in human history were all carbohydrate based diets. All of them.

Here are the areas with the longest longevity today called Blue Zones...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Zone

All mainly plant based diets. Weird huh? Even the one in Italy is in the Italian mountains where sweet potatoes are the main food.

Only one zone in the USA makes the list. Seventh Day Adventists who are vegetarian for religious purposes. I guess they should be informed of the ills of carbs.

You won't ever see a meat based population on the list. They die off of heart disease and colon cancer far to early to make the grade.
