I should do this diet but I just don't have the discipline. I did buy a juicer that I use though. I'm a diabetic though, so I have to go heavier on the veggies than the fruit and it doesn't taste very good.

Not really. You will be able to eat all the fruit you want on this plan. Your diabetes will likely go away (assuming type 2)

Juicing is great, but why don't you just eat the fruits and vegetables in their raw form? To me they taste better, plus you get the benefit of fiber, burning calories from chewing, and more importantly digestion. Some studies say that you burn 50% more calories by eating food raw than juicing. You will feel fuller by eating raw.

Seriously, how long did it take your body to get used to the cellulose in the plants? Meaning that it takes the body longer to break down and digest cellulose...how long until you were pooping regularly? I feel I get constipated early on

Lol you can keep your hot bean water. I love myself.

Jk some of the best coffee I ever had was fresh stuff in El Salvador a few years ago. Black with not even a grain of sugar or drop of cream and the stuff was amazing.

Yeah I can't have sugar or cream in it or it tears my stomach up.

It takes a couple weeks for your gut microbiome to adjust with the beneficial bacteria that break down plant fiber. From then on it is clean sailing. I have had 2 less than stellar poops all year, both came after going out to eat and splurging on a side of french fries. Other than that, my morning poop is regular, quick,  and bountiful. Like soft serve clockwork.

As an aside, the bacteria that break down meat products are known to produce TMAO which accelerates cancer growth.

6 months in on the whole food plant based eating.

Down 35 pounds. Off all prescription medications. Back pain is gone. Everything just works better thanks to the reversal of arteriosclerosis. My tubes are relaxing and opening up again, and blood is able to get where it needs to go. It is as simple as that.

Have not been sick this year. Not even allergies. I even stayed healthy at a time my whole household passed around stomach flu.

The point? If you have any chronic lingering medical issues, just try it out for a month. You could save a ton of cash , feel so.much better, and extend your life in the mean time.

I realize I catch flack for the posts, but after each one I make I get DM's from people wanting to improve their health. That makes it worth it. Anywho...

Love,

Over the last 4 months or so I have been vegan about 85% of the time, been vegetarian probably 99% of the time and had meat maybe 4-5 times in the 4 months. I couldn't resist some BBQ in Georgia while traveling but aside from that I have been adamant about avoiding meats and dairy products. The hardest for me is going out to eat as most places I go with family and friends just offer a veggie burger which can get tiring. If no veggie burger, I usually just order a few different side orders of vegetables, rice, beans, etc. I have dropped 20 pounds and feel better than ever. I was never a big breakfast eater but now love my banana, peanut butter, almond milk and plant protein smoothie each morning. Sometimes I'll do a bowl of quinoa loaded with chopped vegetables and spinach with some breakfast potatoes. Dinners are tough but I love chickpea noodle pasta dishes with pesto and vegetables, and Mexican food is easy to make vegan just hold the meat and cheeses and sour creams and load up on beans and avocado instead.

Hell, I've lost 45 pounds or so (from 220 down to around 175 now) just cutting out sodas, sweet tea, etc. completely and being a tad bit more conscious about what I eat.  Still eating red meats and poo.  Still drink beer, but no where near as often.

Unless you just have some type of condition... people make weight loss out to be waaaay harder than it really is as an excuse to never take that first step, give something up, and try to lose anything in the first place.  It's as hard, or easy, as you want it to be.

Counting calories has one big issue, 1000 calories in vegetables, and 1000 calories in carbs are two different things entirely, your body will process them entirely different. I try to keep my total daily intake below 2000 atm and control my carbs.

Exactly. You'll gain weight even eating below 2,000 if all your calories come from carbs/fats.

Dieting is about tailoring your proteins/carbs/healthy fats within a calorie requirement. There are min/max to all three of these. I keep it at 50/40/10 depending on how I'm working on my body at the moment. 50% protein, 40% carbs, 10% fat within a certain calorie intake. I'll raise he fat and lower the carbs to lose weight.

People also look at that and say wow half my calories can be yummy carbs and fat! Those carbs are rice veggies and beans/quinoa and the fat is avacado peanut butter or fish though so not really.

On a diet like IGO's, as long as fats are watched, it's almost unecesscary to count calories.

This diet would never work for me because of my needed protein intake...beans and tofu only have so much to offer someone building muscle. However I eat read meat 2-3 times a month, and alternate between fish and chicken otherwise with the occasional bean/pea/tofu day.
