KB is better than Funchess, period. KB is our unquestioned #1 WR. I don't get the unable to break tackles and just a possession WR comments.

Steve Smith - Career YPR: 14.3, yards per target: 8.43, TDs per game: 0.37

Kelvin Benjamin - Career YPR: 14.3, yards per target: 7.43, TDs per game: 0.5

So, the only place stats wise that Smith is better at not being a possession WR is yards per target and that is with KB's two years being his rookie year and first year after ACL injury. Heck, KB averaged 7.97 yards per target last year, not bad for a slow, fat guy.

I am not trying to say in the least that KB is better than Smith or that Smith is a possession WR, but I am trying to point out that KB doesn't look like a fast shifty WR, but it sure doesn't mean he can't break tackles. Look at the play in Voth's article (which by the way was against Atlanta, not Grimes in TB, which was another vicious stiff arm the week after). KB got another 10 yards after contact with the DB because of his size and strength. I just get tired of selling KB short after two seasons. Smith had 64-1026 3 TDs after his first two years and KB had 136-1949 16 TDs, yet people this off-season want to trade him and think Funchess is better. Same discussion before the 2016 season that Funchess would take over. I hope KB is reading all this crap and the memes and is coming in pissed like I saw in those Atlanta and TB stiff arms the last two games of 2016.

Smith was more efficient with less touches. Cam was more effective spreading the ball around in KB's absence. To me his stats are elevated due to more targets.

Top Dawg gave us the YAC comparison between Smitty, Funch and KB that illustrates my point.

I don't think we are asking too much of KB when we ask him to be a professional and stay in shape. I always liked him and my expectations for him will remain high due to his god given physical talent. I hope he gets mad and trains like Cam trains. Until then he is underachieving and not living up to his potential.

He's going to have to do more with his touches this season because of all the hungry WR we've got now. Is KB hungry? We all hope he steps up. I welcome the opportunity to be proven wrong.

I was referring to Smitty whose career YAC is 5.5.

BTW, so far in their short careers,  Funchess is at 4.0 and Benji at 3.1.

Numbers I was quoting were from last season alone. Yeah, Smitty was obviously in a different universe when it came to YAC.

I think you completely missed my point. I'm not comparing him to Smith, it just gets annoying when people think Funchess may be better. It's as if they don't realize how much KB has done in his first two years and that amazingly Benjamin can actually still improve as well. I think there's a bunch of people in here that think that someone like Cotchery was better.

I don't believe there's anyone that thinks Cotchery had the talents, potential or sheer ability of Benjamin. Cotchery was always the consummate professional however. No one questioned his work ethic or determination. KB needs to consistently put in the effort, and dominate befitting of his size and skill. The good thing is that he is still learning to be a pro, and though a little older, still has time to pull it all together and make his mark. It's kind of amazing that even in an arguably down year, he was still fairly productive. He needs to stop the disappearing acts this year though, and go hard every down.

As for Funchess, I don't know why you don't want to at least acknowledge that the kid seems to have some skills like Gettleman said (in so many words). During the camp last year, there were more than a few people who said that he was the best receiver, and some speculated that his upside was greater than Benjamin's. Then, the seasoned happened, but a large part of his lack of productivity was due to misuse or comparatively little use as G-man and Rivera have admitted. So, in my mind, the jury is still out on whether he can have a KB-esque impact, or more. As a Panthers fan, you should welcome that, not be indignant about the possibility, whether you believe it or not.

As for me, I don't care who steps up the "most," as long as everyone steps up.
