I have no issues with a critical piece as long as it's grounded in reality and sticks to the facts, and for some reason I feel it's especially refreshing if I were to see it on the team's actual site.

There are a few entertaining Gettlemanesque quotes in this piece, but I like this one the most. It's what some of us have been saying for months.

"It's his turn, it's his time," Gettleman said. "He's obviously talented. He had a good camp last year, and Ron's right - we didn't use him like we probably should have.

"He's come back strong, so here we go."

I tried to find some info on Garrett and Ross, but there's nothing at this point. A writer at SB Nation said that Garrett had a good minicamp.

Teddy Williams is impressed with Fred Ross FWIW.

@Jeremy Igo didn't give us too much on that front.

I suppose we can all dream...at least until Rivera just goes with the veteran status quo, regardless of who does what during the preseason. I kind of hate preseason.

Funchess has got to be a bigger part of this offense. The potential is there but as of now that's all it is is potential. I expect the additions of CMC and Samuel do nothing but create more opportunities for Funch and KB. What they do with those opportunities is vital to this season and the future of this franchise. There's absolutely no reason KB or Funch, given 1 on 1, should not win at least 7 out of 10 times. The magnitude of this season cannot be understated, truly a cross roads. Consistent contender or floundering in mediocrity.

It wasn't the typical fluff piece you find on panthers.com but I don't see where he's putting Gettleman on blast? If anything he highlights that these guys are what Gettleman expected them to be and can each contribute in their own way. It's demonstrating that while we may not have a true # 1 receiver than can do it all, Gettleman has assembled a group of receivers that can fill each role with more of an emphasis on speed this year.

The funny thing is that Funchess could play better and still not get big numbers. Olsen, KB and McCaffery are the guys who I think will get the top receptions off the bat. We lost Ginn, so those numbers are there, but Shepard, Samuel and Funchess could be splitting that up. Unless Cam starts going to the next level in terms of passing numbers, it's going to be tough for any of those 3 to really break through a number like 6-700 yards. Cam's been around 3500-4000 yards a season and the top 3 I mentioned should end up with 2500 yards, so unless Cam gets above 4000, there's not a lot left for 3 or more guys.

To me its not all about the numbers, I want one of the two to step up and be the Legit, unquestioned #1. Demand the ball, and when you get it do something with it. Win the 50/50s, demand a double team, stop with mental errors. Be THAT DUDE, when the game is on the line be the go to guy. Those kinds of things say more to me than any set of numbers put up.

I would like to say that most Huddlers are smart enough to realize that a 600-700 yard season and multiple TDs means a lot in this run-first offense, but you never know with some people. Me, myself, I don't judge everything by sheer yardage, but I do expect the ball to be caught and for receivers to get open by a couple of yards when someone else is getting doubled.

I don't get your need for one of them to step up and be the "unquestioned #1." All I want is for them to make the play when the ball comes their way, and get open sometimes when the other one (or two) is getting doubled. I could care less about one rising above the other one, but if it happens, fine! What I truly want is the corps as a whole to rise.
