You want Fox and Jake gone... what about Hurney?

I have huge issues with him. A huge 17 million dollar issue with him. As well as one for 20 million dollars (Jakes Deal). I don't care that it was to save cap we resigned a guy coming off of his worst game as a pro, just stupid. I want the whole house cleaned (except maybe Gregory and that College Scouting staff). The main reason we got this guy was to keep us in cap safety. He tags a guy with obvious motivation issues as well as a very inconsistent player to the largest single year contract in the NFL. In my eyes the single dumbest move in his tenure.

I think he has and can draft good talent. His only major mistake that I know of is that he was trying to force a superbowl season this season and it is currently biting us in the ass (read tagging Peppers etc.).

IMO of course.

I wouldn't exactly call his drafts recently a great success. He hits on the 1st rounders and occasionally a late round guy. Look this year we have one rookie contributing significantly a 7th round pick and thats only as nickel corner. From last year the only pick with any good extensive playing time this year is Jeff Otah (and he has not looked all that great). Of course J stew isn't getting many carries and Otah is being ask to be a finesse T in the pass game which he is not. All in all this guy is not that good at anything really .

Fair enough, I'll have to look into the bust to success ratio of other teams mid round picks. My gut says that Hurney's ratio is going to be similar to all teams not named the Steelers.

IMO fox and hurney are a package deal. if one goes the others gotta go too

I think they are joined at the hip!

As for checking other teams middle round draft picks don't bother, there are too many of them playing for other teams compared to very few on the Panthers roster.

Gamble

Gross

Kalil

Wharton

Otah

Peppers

Witherspoon

I think he has done a decent job

A decent job maybe good enough for you.

BTW any late rounders among those players. Those guys were all 1st and 2nd rounders.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
