Draft Picks 2010

We need to find a way to move back into the first round to draft a top quarterback. Cowher or Frazier or whoever need to offer any player or picks a team wants and only hold Gross, Otah, #89, and Beason off limits. The rest of our players (including great ones like Williams/Stewart/TD/Wharton) need to be offered as tradebait. We need to leave no stone unturned in trying to get either Bradford or Clausen.

And exactly how much do we give up? I would love to get Bradford, but I think we have too many other needs to also address in the draft. To mave up from the 2nd, realistically we'll probably have to give up our 1 in 2011, 2,3 in 2010 and probably one other pick.... that's alot of potential good younf players for 1 player......

This draft is strong in interior defensive lineman and quarterbacks. One would hope we sign both a QB and DT in free agency and take the best player available at either position.

Jake Locker, should he pass up a chance to be the no. 1 pick in 2011, still might be a top-ten pick this year due to his measurables, and the fact that he's played pretty well in a pro-style offense this year. Tony Pike has some talent as well, and in the games i saw he showed very good arm strength. i wouldnt mind us taking him or his teammate Mardy Gilyard, the WR.

Hopefully all the underclassmen D-lineman like Carlos Dunlap and Marvin Austin leave early. That way we'd be in position to draft a DT who slips out of the first round like Arthur Jones, Jared Odrick, or Demarcus Granger.

The Panthers dont really need another fullback or tight end.

I'm sick of this crap. Give me one good reason that he can not succeed in this league? He can make all the throws (anyone that watches him throw can see this) and is tough as nails and is extremely hard to bring down. Hes about to break Herschel Walkers rushing TD mark for crying out loud. And oh yeah he is one of the best leaders in college football history. Don't give me that FB/TE crap. The Golden Calf of Bristol will be a great NFL QB just watch especially if he gets a creative Offensive mind that plays to his strengths.

spread QBs have significant problems adjusting to the NFL, which is already a very hard thing to do.

When I think '2nd round QB' I don't sit and wonder, 'did he break Herschel Walker's rushing TD mark?' I usually check to see if he can take snaps from center, whether he's a drop back passer, and whether he's smart enough not to dive head first into a pile. When he finishes his season, he'll have a grand total of one season under center, and I think it's fairly clear we haven't seen him learn to not lower the shoulder and get knocked on his head.

So while it might be neat for some people to think about how great it'd be to have a guy who can run, we're not running the triple option and we're not running the spread.

His throwing mechanics are poor, he takes too long to throw, and his arm is average at best. His statline, specifically TDs, is incredibly padded as well.

You just described the QB that has been leading this team since 2003. People constantly underestimate intangibles. I will agree that he doesn't have the prototypical throwing motion and he does take too long to throw the ball (that one I do believe can be worked on). I don't think I would call his arm average, he doesn't have Cutler, Falco, or Russel arm strength but neither do Manning or Brady (two of the best QB's in NFL history). I have seen him make better longballs then Jake even in his hayday. He also is one hell of a leader and without him Florida is not the contender they have been the last 4 years. He just wins football games and thats what I want in my QB.

Pat White was taken in the 2nd last year because of the wildcat formation. I think The Golden Calf of Bristol is a lot better passer and leader and he also has a better chance succeeding in the wildcat because of his experiences in similar formations and plays at Florida. We pick him up in the 2nd and at worst he contributes year one in the wildcat.
