Before that..why can you think of when they had a better roster?

I think your 98 team was loaded, moreso than this one.  Maybe in a few years when the rookies are vets we'll look on last year's team as better, but if you set aside recency bias, you ought to admit that the 98 team was loaded as well, and had arguably more talent.

98 was loaded for sure...definitely close. I'll say I'm more excited about the roster this year based on the younger talent on the team where as the 98 roster had older guys like Jesse Tuggle, Cornelius Bennett and Eugene Robinson.

KC had him playing 3-4  NT at 345, taking up two gaps, keeping the LBers clean and playing a ton of snaps.

Falcons will play him as a DT at 330, with  one gap responsibilities, whose job is to shoot upfield and disrupt the QB/RBs, in a much deeper DL rotation.

He's also 2 years removed from surgery. He's also really motivated- he does well this year and he gets a monster contract from somebody next year.

I'm sure you guys found a gem that no one else wants and is going to be a all pro. Funny how KC fans and staff were not even sad to see him go. In fact they picked a SS over him. A position of less value. It will be fun to lap up all those tears when your team crashs and burns this year.

Yeah no one wants him. That's why the Colts, Jags, Raiders and Dolphins were after him..and the Chiefs GM said they wanted him back. And it's an all pro SS...you act like Eric Berry is nothing. He is one of the best in the game.

I think the truth about Atlanta lies somewhere in the middle of these rival posts. I have no issue with saying that the Atlanta Offense is proven, way moreso than all the hopeful hyperbole about Carolina's O this coming year. Ryan proved (at least as much as Cam did in 2015) that he didn't go missing in the big playoff games. Add Julio and Devonta and even with a new OC they can really hurt you.

I do have an issue with their D. Talk of them being a force defensively is premature. They weren't last year despite an epic year by Beasley. Naturally media talked them up since they were In the SB, but Carolina had a down year and still had 13 more sacks 47>34. Do they have potential? Sure. Everyone does. But talk of being regular SB contenders should be taken with a pinch of salt until they prove that they can shut teams down.

Oh you'll see how it was Shanahan who made everyone look scary good, not the other way around. I got a thread coming up addressing that.

And I can promise you it's Ryan who should be thanking Shanahan for his MVP season. Now, Ryan's good, but Shanahan made him look insane.

Awe shucks I was right again @Ball4life

Actually, Shanahan had a big role in making everyone on that offense look good, it's not even funny. Just read an article on that recently that I may make a separate thread on.

Now, to post something, I think Takkarist McKinley is going to do bad his first few years. Like really bad.

I'll let this article do the talking for that:

Excerpt:

So when your first round DE looks like this:

That makes him a non-threat against us. All he has is a good motor, and that's about it. He gets easily handled and his pass rush moves are lacking.

As you can see, he looks like another Ryan Delaire, which is not a good thing:

Don't sleep on Tak he has really good speed and a solid bull rush. He will probably give Kalil some issues this season but we will see. I did think Daryl actually did a pretty good job on Vic last season though.
