No kidding man.  I don't know what Brooklyn was thinking?  KG and PP were like 37 and 36 at the time of that trade I think??  Ainge definitely killed that trade.

Brooklyn thought they had a chance to upset Lebron and the Heat and win a title if they added a couple pieces. This was back when Deron Williams was actually a good PG, they had Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez was healthy. They thought adding Pierce/KG would add depth and push them over the top, and in doing so paid a premium for them. Of course they lost to the Heat in the playoffs and injuries issues caused them to severely underperform and then completely tanked while the C's held all of their draft assets for the forseeable future.

That trade will go down as the NBA's version of The Great Train Robbery.

Beware of Cs who are over 30 and likely will be disgruntled after getting traded from his hometown after one season.

He wont be disgruntled, he has a good relationship with Clifford and the Hornets run a very similar system as to what was ran in Orlando.

We'll see but when it comes to Dwight Howard, it's HOT or really, really cold. He's not a top tier rebounder and defensive player anymore. Watching Curry grab 3 rebounds from him was demoralizing.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Top 5 league wide rebounder last year.. and 1.5 blocks a game.. when he didn't care last year..

"Cough cough"

Our system was friendly enough for fuging Al Jefferson to come here and tear it up, and he is/was one of the most non-athletic big me out there. I know their offensive games are majorly different but our system is one of the few in the league that will help get the most out of what Howard has left.

Honestly none of this really matters because we some how got out of Plumlee's contact which I am still dumbfounded by after a good nights rest.

Padded stats in a weak conference. Against the top teams in the NBA, he averaged 5.2 Rebounds, 0.3 Blocks.

Buyer beware. That's all I'm saying.

Which is still 100% better than Bumlee.

People give Danny Ainge too much love. Hes a mediocre GM.

Boston should thanks Kevin McHale! He basically traded KG to his former team (Boston) for basically nothing!!!!

After the super team. He wasnt able to do anything with those picks from the Nets. He was willing to part all of those picks for Justise Winslow but MJ and Cho were to dumbasses to take it!

Ainge draft is as bad as Cho: Sullinger, Nogueria, James Young, Hunter, Rozier, Yabusele, Zizic.

Got lucky with Smart. Hes an average smart role player. Jaylen Brown was the only damn good pick! Kelly was okay pick too.

Ainge formed the big 3, owns multiple 1st round picks, got an all-star and 2nd-team All-NBA PG in return for nothing and he's a mediocre GM? lol.

Sullinger was the 21st pick and a decent contributor off the bench which is all you can really hope for from a late first round pick. Nogueira was drafted as part of a trade with the Mavs that got us Olynyk who you yourself said was an okay pick in a pretty poor draft class overall. James Young is a mid-first round pick who is still only 21 so it's too early to tell. Both Yabusele and Zizic have been overseas so you can't judge those picks either. And Rozier is still young and a useful bench player thought highly of by the Celtics organization that they won't include him in trade negotiations with other teams.

Meanwhile the Hornets haven't drafted a good player since Kemba in 2011 (not including Kaminsky, too early to tell).

edit: I'm not crowning Ainge the best GM by any means (especially if this trade down to the 3rd pick doesn't work out) but he's one of the best in the NBA.

He was 5th in the league rebounds per game last year, a season considered terrible by his standards.

Concerns over him ever getting back to form are legitimate but washed 2017 Dwight is still a top 15 center.

Charlotte tends to rejuvenate or kickstart players careers... Whether it be a player the caliber of Jason Richardson, Stephen Jackson, or Al Jefferson... or even possibly a players like Jeremy Lin or Josh McRoberts. Most of these players had a career year during their first year with the team.

Stephen Jackson's career was thought to be on the decline and then he gets to Charlotte and has his best season in the NBA.

I don't think Howard will come in and save the franchise but he could easily come in and have the same type of effect that Corey Maggette. I can see one or two years of solid play before he fades into obscurity.

I could list a lot of people that have come to Charlotte and had the worst careers of their lives if we are going to do that.

Tyson Chandler, Boris Diaw, Tyrus Thomas, Ben Gordon, Lance Stephenson a many others. A few players doing well in Charlotte doesn't mean "charlotte tends to rejuvenate or kickstart players"

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
