Yes. If being the worst rb from college in production from shotgun is what you call "fine," there's no hope. At best he's below average from shotgun, with his elite traits are capped under that system. He's an elite back from a downhill scheme under center, not from shotgun.

Cam only had 9.2% of his snaps from under center. It's not his strong point.

The fact you just said he's a fit in our scheme is pretty laughable, as we'd have to change offensive philosophies to accomodate one of these players, with one of them having their potential capped. McCaffrey is a perfect fit from the shotgun, so he makes far more sense.

The far better prospect was and still is Fournette.  He would've worked here regardless of what you think.  Cam has a YouTube vid of him from behind the center on certain plays.  You want to change the offense, that's how.  Fournette was never thought of in the passing game at LSU.  The rare times he was, he actually produced.  To say the best prospect at RB since AP would not fit our offense is just foolish.  Use all your stats you want.  You get him the ball and get out of the way.

We picked McCaffrey, and Fournette is about to play for a franchise that's worse than ours.  So this conversation is pointless.  Hopefully McCaffrey proves me wrong and works well here.  And Fournette can somehow make Jacksonville not terrible.

Do I honestly think he CAN?  My experience with Shula over the years, I'd have to say no.

Do I honestly think he will TRY?  Yes, I do believe Ron and Mike saw the writing on the wall as to (as I just pointed out) the consistency of their "run the ball, run the clock" offense.

Playing for a low scoring game is utterly in opposition to what the NFL wants (for TV ratings) and, thus, have set their rules for.  They've constructed their rules to encourage passing and scoring.

Can "ball control" still win in the NFL?  Probably.  But I think the odds are better if you set up your offense to score as much as possible rather than to score just enough and try to keep the ball out of the other guys hands.

Fair points.  I'm hoping Shula can evolve with ya, man.  Also, hope your Tigers somehow beat Bama.  Never had a problem with Auburn, ever.

I enjoyed Oklahoma beating the crap out of Bama a few years ago.

I enjoyed Oklahoma beating the crap out of Auburn a lot less... lol.

This has been looked at 20 different ways on the Huddle since the CFB season ended.  LNette absolutely SUCKED in anything that resembles our offense.

Saca312 is correct as have 20 other posters on this site over the last 4 months.

nctearhole0u812, you may need to seek professional attention.

Your agenda is both tired and wrong.

It's looked at by Saca constantly.  Nobody else really gives a poo, because they know how talented Fournette is.  Fournette was a beast in an offense without a QB for his whole entire LSU career.  Like I stated above.  It doesn't matter, because he's not on our team.  He's also in another poo situation in Jacksonville.

I agree with Saca on this one. Fournette is an elite RB in the right scheme. That scheme involves a QB under center that allows him to get a head of steam and run like a bat out of hell. Fournette is a bruiser and doesn't have elite vision, good vision, but not elite, so he would not fair well in our style of offense. Now had we drafted him, I'm sure we would have tailored our offense to better fit his running style much like we tailored our offense to work with Cam's unique skill set as well.

CMC is a better fit for our offense right off the bat based on experience in and out of shotgun. By drafting him we have less to transition, and he also provides us a lot of different looks that we can throw out there due to his experience in the slot as well.

Say what you will about Shula, I know I have, but the guy has created one of the most intricate and complex rushing attacks the NFL has seen in years. 2015 was built off of the misdirection of our rushing attack. We gave so many different looks it was damn near impossible to predict 100% what play we were about to run due to players in motion and the threat of the option. Shula's strength is not playcalling, but play design, specifically with run plays.

Now add CMC and Samuel, two guys who can go in motion, split out wide, or come back in the backfield. Even if they don't receive a handoff the misdirection that they can provide has me INCREDIBLY excited and optimistic about our offense moving forward, especially if both are on the field at the same time.

And if Shula fugs it up then we fire his ass and bring in a better playcaller.

The whole staff is gone if the offense is trash.  So..............
