I realize that Charlotte is a relatively small media market, but damn, how have the Panthers so consistently had such terrible beat writers covering them?

I think we are the left overs after everyone else gets their pickings. Therefore we get those not good enough to go anywhere else, but here. I think JRs cock blocking of the media factors in too.

It's what's going to inevitably sink ESPN.

Fire the high priced, well-tenured guys and keep the garbage shows and sh*tty cheaper guys.

It might fit the business model if they're hemorraging money, but it's awful for the fans.

Oh yeah, DNewton sucks big time.  Any chance we can get a 2-for-1 and ship Person out with Newton?

Isn't it sad.  Chris Berman, Tom Mees, and the other original ESPN sportscasters have to be sick to their stomach at the product they put out now.  I remember when they moved to the BIG set.   I loved ESPN when if first came out.  I remember how I thought ECU was relevant because ESPN was televising one of there games.  Don't worry ECU you're not relevant yet.  (Joking, former student too)

By george, I wouldn't call this a coincidence.

Looks like maybe the ESPN beat writer for the Panthers has possibly changed?

Every entry on the ESPN Panthers page today has been by either ESPN Staff Writer Coley Harvey or by NASCAR Writer Bob Pockrass.

(Another NASCAR transfer?  Really?)

Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be just a vacation for David Newton.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
