The Film Room: Michael Thomas

Yeah, I know the draft is over but this dude churns out some great content and he made a great video about a receiver we will have to face twice a year for a long long time in Michael Thomas. It's a good watch and he breaks down a particular play against us in week 6 where Thomas beats Teddy Williams on a Jam and then Boston misses on a big hit. Thomas really did look like a vet out there last year and I don't look forward to facing him for years to come. 

Compares him to Marques Colston, and it's a very fair comparison. He also brings up the point that he is their new "Mr. Reliable", and it got me thinking about how we don't have that guy in our offense, none of our WR fit that mold. 

Anyway, it's a good watch and the X's and O's talk is something I don't think we get enough of, even if it's at our team's expense in this particular video.

Key names Teddy Williams and Boston.... but all that is still relevant. Funchess has the potential to be a pretty Mr Reliable I believe but he is not as good as Thomas.

Olsen, fits that mold. Though you stated in the WR group. But he still plays that part.

He could have been.

In that one Cover 2 play, should Teddy Williams just followed Thomas further up the field. It was a five receiver set and the inside guy released down the field. There was no one for Williams to defend in the flats. I know it's not the play that was called but a corner needs to adjust his coverage based on the offense ... At least a good one.

I think so, but he was our 4th or 5th string corner for a reason. It was a good play for the saints but it certainly wasn't up to the level of competition that the second game had when we had our starting corners healthy again.

So he averaged 5 catches for roughly 65 yards a game in our 2 games in 2016. Against rookie corners and JAG free safeties. Wow that was amazing...... 

Cor me not that impressed and I doubt he even does that.well this year against us....

He had an 1100 yd 9td rookie season.  That's good.
