JJ Watt tells it like it is. Calls NFL Networks Top 100 list a complete joke.

Geoff Schwartz said they don't even explain what it's for when they hand you a ballot - they just ask you to fill out who you think the top players are.

Honestly, this is like any ranking - totally subjective. I would be more interested in a coaches rating of the top 100 players in the NFL.

NFL Media has repeatedly said in the past that it's supposed to be a ranking for the upcoming season. But nobody understands that so it always ends up being a popularity contest/comment on the prior season.

It's really dumb.

well they go mostly from the previous season to project where they think player will be this coming season. if healthy, Watt would still be top 3 so the injury was taken into consideration.

Well said.

Is Kuechly the only 1 we have left on the list?  I mean I'm assuming he's still there if Watt still made the list.

Yeah, Luke will be the last remaining guy to represent us on the list, unless KK somehow makes it. Luke should get the full respect of his peers and be way up there, regardless of how torn everyone is on the requirements. Guy made all pro and nearly missed half the season. That's incredible. He has the entire leagues respect and attention.

Yeah, but the players overlook a lot of things. Like Watt has a random injured season and tanks tons of spots. Meanwhile, Gronk will probably be top 10 at this rate. So the players take into account injury for some guys and then ignore it for others. There's like no consistency to it at all.
