Austin Davis signs with Seattle

Recommended Posts

The media, especially the NFL, changing the narrative from a player kneeling in protest of police brutality to that player somehow disrespecting the flag and the troops, is the saddest part of this entire affair. It just highlights how many Americans will buy whatever you sell them, as long as you pander to their prejudices.

Kaep had a right to say and do what he did. The owners have a right to not sign him as well without consequence. It doesn't seem like attendance was down in San Fran due to Kaepernick's protest but across the country tv viewership was down 32% and much of it was blamed on the protests.  Why would owners and coaches risk bringing in a polarizing figure if the benefit doesn't far exceed the risk. He knew when he protested that it was unpopular and did it anyway. Good for him he stood by his principles. And he had to know that there might be backlash and it appears that there has been. You have the right to protest without fear of imprisonment but not without consequence. The NFL is conservative and old school. It is a private business (mostly) run for profit. Anything that is unpopular and risky is largely avoided. Which is why he is still on the sidelines. He isn't that talented where the risk outweighs the benefits. He wants a lot of money. He isn't going to be the starter at least not until someone get hurts. So why would he get picked in a league which is aversive to risk. I don't see any scenario where people pick him as a backup. He could end up being signed to come in and start if someone went down and there were no suitable backups. Because you would have to see plenty of benefit to risk bringing him in. I just don't see enough benefit as a backup to risk signing him. This is purely business and he has been in the league long enough to know that. I don't feel sorry at all for him. He did what he did and this was a likely consequence. This is also America. Life isn't fair but who said it was or even should be. I wish him good luck moving forward in whatever he does. I doubt he has to work ever if he was wise with his money.

I completely agree. He exercised his right as an American. I think he would be great back up. I believe it may be the money he is willing to take as a backup. Remember he was doing his thing in the super bowl before the lights went out.

He might be a decent backup.  However, most teams don't want the poo show that Kaep brings with a backup.  The juice us not worth the squeeze.

good thread from a guy who watched and graded every single kaepernick snap, along with every other starting qb in the league

i've not seen anyone put in the work that fahey has and still argue that kaepernick is not a starting caliber quarterback. he supports his positions with video analysis and statistics. best i've seen of the opposition is know-nothings pulling a handful of lowlights to support their prejudice or worse, shitty journalists citing "anonymous sources" but providing no data or analysis to support their position.

kaepernick passes the eye test and the stats are certainly starter quality, even before taking into account the awful supporting cast he had to work with. kaepernick is a very good litmus test for identifying racists. there's nothing more to it than that. that's how you end up with people STILL claiming he's asking for too much money even when carroll says otherwise, mike freeman and florio report otherwise, and kaepernick essentially denies it himself by retweeting freeman's reporting. it's how he's too much of a "distraction" (despite the words of his teammates) in a league that saw tébow gifted multiple opportunities in major media markets for nothing more than the distraction he himself created, relying on blatant self promotion in place of actual talent at the position.

Dude...the only reason your give a damn is because if the color of his skin.  If Karl were white, you would have a very different tune to sing.

I really don't care honestly. I did 20 yrs to the military. I fought for his rights and any white, green, orange person. Did you know that the NFL, only started doing it because they got paid. And Kap, may need some work but he is better than a back up. However I agree he should take less money because he won't be starting.

If I was a Cleveland Browns fan, I would be mad as hell that they aren't bringing in Kaepernick.  If I was a Minnesota Vikings fan, I would mad as hell.  If I were a Broncos or Jets fan, I would be steaming.  By these teams choosing not to bring in a guy who's had good success, who is young, they show to me they don't care about winning.  This guy is not a murderer, he committed no crime, and yet teams are staying away from him like the plague.  It's not like this guy is The Golden Calf of Bristol or an RG3.

Ultimately what I'm saying is, there aren't a lot of great QBs in the league.  For teams who are perennial dumpster fires to pass on a guy who's been apart of successful runs, is absolutely disgusting in my book.  Think about it, if Jimmy "Pickles" Clausen was still our starting QB here, would yall not be screaming for Kaepernick?  This is a question I want serious answers to.  Anybody?

If All it takes to be a Patriot is standing during sacred America song and downplaying rights and injustice towards citizens then Patriotism is awful cheap.

I often wonder what these so-called patriotic people do in their daily lives that actually contributes to the well-being country.
