I also think it's damn hard to draft/sign good TE's.  There are only a handful of really good ones out there...awfully tough position to transition to from college.

I guess it depends on what your specific criteria is for a "good" TE. Remember, we're talking about a backup. IMO, for a cap hit of $2 million this upcoming season, I think we can do better than Ed Dickson. Our staff has had definite issues at times with taking too long to move on from mediocre players these last 6 years.

Oh, I'm with you, and maybe I'm forgetting someone, but I really can't remember dying to bring in any of the FA TE's that moved teams...but again, I could be missing one in there.

 

I do think that our roster has about as much competition at a few spots as we ever have....but true, we do hold onto backups a bit long.
