Greg is up there with him, he  is gonna be a top 5 TE by the time he is done with football.

Possible.

Gonzo, Gates, Witten, Gronk, Sharpe.....and that's just this era.  Don't forget about Mackey, Ditka, Winslow, Newsome....etc.

Greg may well end up top 5 all time, but that is an awfully steep slope right now.

Three straight thousand yard seasons, the FIRST TO DO IT. I understand different eras etc. However that is an absolutely amazing record to hold for a tight end. Outside of Carolina I think he's still under-rated and 2nd to Gronk, who IMO is not better than Olsen (availability is the BEST ability) for as good as Gronk is, he's missed two of the SB's his team has made it to.

I think we as fans need to really sit back and soak in the last few years, and more to come as this is a special time to be a fan....we have at least four future likely 1st ballot HOF's on this team (Peppers, Olsen, Kuechly, Newton) and IMO Davis deserves to get in but I don't know if that will happen, I hope it does.

Gronk is the only active TE who is better than Greg....he just can't stay healthy.  Just for that reason, I prefer Greg.

Anyway, came to post that when Olsen leaves, I think it will feel a lot like when Gross left.  His ability and availability is something that we have yet to be able to replace.  I expect the same when 88 leaves.

It's a rarity in this league to be as durable as Olsen has for us these last 6 years while being such a prolific focal point in our offense. Which is why I want to backhand these fans that can't understand why I think our stubbornness with refusing to adequately address TE2 is so infuriating.

He is close to top 10 numbers already, couple of more season and few SB rings will change all of that.

Do you ever not speak in absolutes?

Have you heard of words like possible, maybe, or hopefully?

There honestly haven't been many out there that I would have loved to have here.....outside of Hunter Henry.  That would have been a fine selection, but if Star walks...maybe it was the right call.

I also think it's damn hard to draft/sign good TE's.  There are only a handful of really good ones out there...awfully tough position to transition to from college.

    • They reached for Pickett, so they are not immune to it.  I could see that as well.  I just think the Colts are flying under the radar and they have been too quiet concerning their QB situation--of course, they could think Jones is their guy (they had a good one named Jones a long time ago) but I think they are done with the Richardson experiment.   Even if I believed in Jones, I would still draft a QB--I also read one mock that said the Jets would take Sanders if he falls to 7---I disagree, but I was once wrong and it still bothers me.
    • I just switched to prime video with fanduel south. Will I be able to watch the Canes playoff games still?
    • I mean, you can use that "logic," but the problem is that most practice squad players, backups or average guys don't put the play on film that Wharton did when given their opportunities.  Perhaps you'll end up right, but I don't think that just because a guy has been in a rotation makes him inherently less productive because he gets more snaps. I will say that the KC fans I've seen on social media loved him, and considered him their second best DT,  regardless of his "rotational" status, and generally considered him a dawg, so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt until he shows otherwise.
