I see maclin going to buffalo.

If DG believes that this panthers team is a super bowl contender, then he should definitely give maclin $5m/year on a 2 year deal.

Some of y'all live in fantasy land about player contracts.

You do realize Maclin is on a decline right now, right? His stats last year are vet minimum money.

If the panthers sign Maclin today, you would make 5 threads writing essays how he would make our offense unstoppable, bringing up old gifs copying and pasting old articles.

The hypocrisy in this thread would be hilarious.

Noted.

My bad.

Maclin is still not signing a cheapo, "make good" contract... not just with us, but with anybody.

He may not but it's absolutely not out of the discussion. From rotoworld:

Chiefs QB Alex Smith was "shocked" at free agent Jeremy Maclin’s release.

Smith also suggested Maclin’s injuries played a role in his career worst 2016. Losing Maclin is a downgrade to Kansas City’s offense, but he wasn’t much of a factor when on the field last year. Maclin shouldn’t come close to the $12.4 million he was owed from the Chiefs and could have to settle for Robert Woods money ($6.8M per year). The Ravens, Bills, and Eagles are among the teams that have been linked to Maclin.

This is basically what I've been saying and thinking from a good logical source in rotoworld. If he wants to settle for a longer term deal at Woods money or maybe a little more then so be it, but nobody will be lining up to pay him anywhere near what he could get after one dominant prove it year. Betting on himself should absolutely be in play here to try to get one last $12M or so per year long term deal. It's questionable as to if he can even still play at a high enough level to have a good enough year to earn a big deal like that, but I think he can and I'm sure he thinks he can.

CBS Sports has rated landing spots for Maclin. Ranking us the 11th best fit, here's what they said of the Panthers:

Carolina drafted Christian McCaffrey and Curtis Samuel, but they're still a little short on reliable playmakers. Kelvin Benjamin showed up overweight to OTAs, and he really wasn't overly impressive last season. The Panthers can't keep relying on Cam Newton to carry them. Maclin would be a great late addition to an offense that has potential if their rookies live up to the hype.
