then again, I love defensive football. There's nothing better than screaming my head off and pounding the seat at BoA as our defense makes mince meat of opposing offenses.

Chuck Smith: 58.5 sacks

Reggie White: 198 sacks

Eric Swaan: 46.5 sacks

Sean Gilbert: 42.5 sacks

proof that stats mean jack poo

Panthers got all of these players after injuries that rendered them less than effective. OP's list consist of home grown PANTHERS.

not denying that, but anyone can sign or still retain players that had illustrious careers but either 1, they're injury prone, or 2, they're getting up there in age.

Not saying we won't have a dominant Dline this year, but lets not base our assessment on past production.

I believe in statistics. Statistics based on past performance are usually a good indicator of future success. Is it full proof? No. Is it a good indicator? Yes.

It seems to me we are "all in" this year. Even Gettleman was aggressive in free agency whereas in previous years he sat on the sideline content to shop the bargain basement and count on UDFAs, injured vets, and projects to fill crucial positions. He finally opened the wallet and spent to get what we needed. He gave Cam some weapons and worked with Rivera and Shula to develop a plan and execute it rather than pick who we could find and try to do the best we could with what we got. The best offseason we have had since Gettleman got here.
