Surprised to see him get traded this late. Looked certain that situation was heading toward him being released. But, Browns gonna Brown.

Yeah, it's odd.  Jets traded for an LB that was on the Jets in the past too.  Makes no sense.

Brown's traded for a in the box SS in Pryor just after drafting one in Peppers

Was thinking about that too, maybe the Browns think Peppers is going to take at least a year or two to get fully accustomed to playing safety. That would honestly be the smartest way to handle him, but its the Browns.

I could see that.  Sit him down for a year, let him bulk up, learn the system, etc.

It's a good move for the Browns. They shed an LB who was a middling performer and pick a former first round draft pick who should still be on his rookie deal. The Browns are playing moneyball and it might take a couple more years for everything to pay off, but in the end they might be able to build a good team of loyal players (a lot of cast offs from other teams) that won't cost them an arm or a leg. The Raiders did it in the 70s and 80s, and heck you could even say the Panthers did it in 2002-2003.

Good luck to them. Something tells me they're doing better than the Jets.

It was two players who were likely gonna get cut anyway getting traded for each other.

Wonder who came out ahead in dead money, though? Cutting both players would have been a decent hit to each team with no potential upsides.

I honestly think the Browns are doing better than they have been (isn't saying much) I don't get the hate.

They're building a defense and had a good draft on paper IMO. The have some online peices. They need a qb and they need to be able to put all these pieces together.
