Any chance we trade up and grab someone like Monk? Unfortunately we don't have a ton of assets just maybe future firsts but I would like to have someone with scoring ability like Monk. If we stay put I'm leaving towards one of the tall white guys......... Life as a Hornets fan is so hard

Unlikely because of the reason you pointed out. Lack of assets. Would have to give up a future first rounder and personally, I don't think Monk is worth it. There will be players like him in future drafts. If he drops to the 8 or 9 range then maybe I'd consider it, but anything earlier is way too high. I'm just not in love with Monk's measurables. He's small for a two guard and doesn't have a significant reach. If you want a Monk like player, we will have access to guys like Mitchell and Kennard at 11 without having to give up a future pick. Mitchell has better measurables and defensive upside and Kennard is a better shooter.

The athleticism for Monk is tantalizing and, but I think Monk has a lower ceiling than other guys that will be picked in his area. If I'm trading up for anyone in the 6-10 range it's Jonathan Isaac. We need upside and that kid has it. He'd be the closest thing we can get to Giannis from this class.

I don't watch too much college ball. I just know we need explosion and athleticism. Wasn't aware that Monk was so small. Great post

Monk is by far the best pure shooter in the draft. His size isn't great. More of a SG than PG, but might have trouble playing the 2. However he can shoot the hell out of the ball.

People didn't really like Devin Booker's size (6'6") too even when he was the best shooter in the draft. He's proving people wrong. If Monk is there at 11, you take him. I would even trade of 1-3 spots for him. He's the one guy who could fall due to his size. But he will the the hell out of the ball in the NBA.

I won't argue that Monk is a good shooter though I don't think he's a landslide favorite as best shooter in the draft. Personally I just think he's a one trick pony and the upside isn't that high.

You mention Booker's size, but 6-6 is a great size for a two guard in the NBA. You look at the prototypical two guards in the league, Klay Thompson is 6-7, James Harden is 6-5, etc, so Booker at 6-6 falls right in that range.

Malik Monk is 6-3. That's the size of a point guard in the modern NBA, yet he doesn't have the handles or playmaking ability to run point for an NBA team. His reach is also 6-6 compared to Booker's 7-0 wingspan. So not only is he undersized for his position, but he lacks the necessary length to make up for his height defensively. Idk I'm just not sold.

No doubt, he was a phenomenal college player and earned his spot in the top 10 of this draft, but I'd temper expectations about him. Not that it matters, since he will be long gone by the time the Hornets pick at 11.

Honestly, I think that he might be the one to drop. Let's say these are the top 11 picks. There are always what seems like 2 picks in the top 10 that people aren't projecting to fall but others jumped up in their place due to fit or other reasons.

1. Markelle Fultz
2. Lonzo Ball
3. Josh Jackson
4. Jonathan Isaac
5. Jayson Tatum
6. De'Aaron Fox
7. Malik Monk
8. Lauri Markkanen
9. Frank Ntilikina
10. Dennis Smith
11. Zach Collins

* Based on the list of top picks, who do you think has the most likely chance of falling? I know @Shockermentioned Markkanen, but I think he is too skilled as a big man to drop. I also think somebody will come in and scoop up Zach Collins earlier than expected for that same reason. People are wanting their very own Porzingis which both Markkanen and Collins fit that roll.

From what I have read, ppl are really high on the potential of Fox, Ntilikina and Dennis Smith. So possibly Monk does fall. But is that good for us @AppHeel @TwentyTwoMcCaffrey? Who else could fall?

Great question.

I think there is a scenario where Dennis Smith Jr could fall. If he's there at 11 Cho HAS to take him. I prefer Ntilikina personally, but I have no complaints or issues with Smith's basketball ability. I think he has star potential. I think Monk could drop, but not past 8 to be honest. Collins will be around in the area of 10 or 11 I think.

The question I have is which teams behind Charlotte will covet the player that drops so much that they will trade up to grab said player.

As much as the Hornets need to draft upside and get a good building block for the future, if a team offers us a deal to obtain future picks or an opportunity for us to dump some salary to move back then I think we should heavily consider it. If Cho loves Kennard, for example, like a lot of people are speculating, I'd implore him to trade back and grab him later while picking up extra picks or getting rid of some salary.

The team is going to draft what Cliff wants. He likes prospects that have veteran qualities and can play significant minutes as a rookie. I would be highly shocked if they don't take someone who fits that mold because that's what the coach wants and he's gotten everything else he's wanted since he arrived.

No, this team will draft who MJ wants. That will be a top college star. Maybe a Justin Jackson. MJ always draft players to sell tickets to die hard college fans.

Morrison, May, Felton, Kemba, Hendo, Zeller, and Frank.

It seems like Rick Bonnell, thinks Bam Adebayo from Kentucky might be a surprise pick. All I know is he is athletic and reminds ppl of a Dwight Howard type with jump shot potential. Also he was the guy Kemba said we should look at drafting. What do you think about the guy?
