PFF: Mario Addison Had More QB Pressures Than Vic Beasley; 3rd In NFC South

DE Mario Addison exploded for the Panthers in 2016. His performance that brought about 9.5 sacks in such a short timeframe of activity brought many Panther fans to hope for his future. Had he been active for longer than he was, he could've easily had a double-digit sack season and likely on his way to a very lucrative contract with another team.

I recently scrolled through twitter and found an interesting statistic: Mario Addison had the third most QB pressures in the NFC South. He is only behind Robert Ayers and Cameron Jordan.

I want to reiterate how Addison didn't have much playing time until after the bye week. Not to mention he was injured for a few games after he became more active. Having this much of an impact from the limited snaps he got is VERY encouraging.

So, think Addison breaks out for double digit sacks next season and establish himself as a monster? What do you think?

Mario is the type of guy you love to root for. Came from a small college program, went undrafted, bounced around a few teams and practice squads before getting a chance to show what he could do and even then got pigeonholed into a situational role until a 2nd round bust finally fell out of favor giving him a shot to start.

Crazy to think how hard Addison had to work to get to this point. This is just the type of story that happens once in a blue moon in the NFL.

I don't mean to take away from Addison because I really like that guy but I just want to point out that, on that sack against the Chiefs, it's Butler who eats up the double team while Addison gets the sack. The fans who have been writing him off should start paying attention to things like that.

Your point on people writing Butler off is a good one and I agree it's crazy to write anyone off after 1 year (especially if the rookie battled an injury) but with that being said, Addison still had to beat the LT with his speed to get that sack.

Mario definitely took advantage of KK being doubled on several of those sacks too. I'm just stoked that he was able to make the plays when the opportunities presented themselves. Hopefully, with a new contract and more snaps under his belt, he starts right where he left off last season.

The point is that Butler allowed Addison to have a one on one opportunity with the LT in the first place. I just wish CJ would start winning more of his one on one opportunities. Peppers should help a lot this year.

I know that I've been underestimating him. Our line might be really, really good this year, provided CJ can stay healthy.

Even if CJ stays healthy, he's needs to pick it up. He really hasn't been that good for about 3 years now. In spite of his leadership, he seems the be the weak link right now.
