Nothing Happening Between Colin Kaepernick And Seahawks So Far...

not comparing talent (or lack thereof), but i think it's the The Golden Calf of Bristol effect. if you do something that draws enough attention to yourself that makes you a polarizing figure...esp. if you play a high profile position like QB, you are considered a distraction for the team and really they just don't want to bother with the stigma of having you on their payroll. if the talent is in the top echelon i think they'd be willing to put up with some, but if the headache you or your presence cause outweighs any potential benefit then you're out of luck.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's reserved to QBs. Terrell Owens (TO) had gobs of talent but he was such a nightmare to handle. He landed with orher teams after the 49ers, sure, but he kept bouncing around until he even played in some other league for a year. Even today, there are people who adamantly refuse to vote him into the Hall of Fame just because of his prior behavior.

Long story short, give a team lots of small red flags or a big one and it makes a team's decision not to sign a lot easier.

He might not be a superstar but he should definitely be on a roster right now. There's no excuse for him being a FA other than him being blackballed. Excuse #1: Fans won't like it. He was the 17th highest selling jersey this past month, so clearly people do not mind him kneeling, or should I say exercising his rights. 17th is higher than the Von Miller, Matt Ryan, Dez Bryant, and even my qb Cam Newton. Mind you this is now while he is a FA. You better believe once a team picks him up, his sales will skyrocket. He's got supporters. Excuse #2: Distraction in the locker room. Teamates as well as many other NFL players have come out in solidarity with Kaep. They may not kneel with Kaep, but rather than being butthurt like you guys, they realize he has the right to exercise his rights.
"Oh look, Kaep is disrespecting our flag. Not that I would ever stand up in our living room during the anthem, but he should. No team is signing him. Perfect, let's bash him because our views are are different than his."
Hmmm....grow up
