I like how Rick is coming to terms with how he and Negan are the same piece of garbage.

It actually makes me love Negan even more. He sees Rick coming to terms with it, and others are starting to see that they were way more similar all along. But I have to say I think Negan has probably changed a bit too.

I still haven't caught July's, but from what I have seen in the upcoming covers it looks like Dwight might be flip-flopping again.

Really, I only think I keep up with the comic anymore for Negan and Rick tbqh. I'm wondering if/when the whisperers will resurface with Beta.

Aside from Rick and Negan, I only really care about a handful of characters anymore. Jesus, Maggie, Michonne, Aaron, maybe Carl a little. Other than those I can't really say I get too hyped for much. Most of those characters have been kind of on the back burner for a while too.

Don't get me wrong, because it is still a good read every time. Like the show, though, the waiting sucks and the development sometimes takes too long.

Like Cary said... I really hope this has opened the door for studios to come in and do good things for other fantasy series.

I'm anticipating both Pat Rothfuss' The Kingkiller Chronicle and Scott Lynch's The Gentleman Bastards film/screen adaptations, and I hope they are the next big GoT comparable productions.

I'm hoping The Witcher series does this, and since it's on Netflix, I have hope it'll get the funding needed.

I don't know if the Wheel of Time show will be good though.

Dont know about the source material but AMC TWD has been pure shite for the past couple seasons. A few decent episodes or mini-arcs within the past 2-3 seasons but it is laughably bad.

GoT not even the best show on HBO but it's significantly better than anything on cable.

GoT is laughably bad at times too. It peaked during seasons 3 and 4, and has gone downhill just the same.  Emilia Clarke is a worse actress than even Haircut from the Garbage People on TWD.

Can't argue Clarke can be pretty bad but at least GoT has interesting secondary/tertiary/etc characters like Varys, Littlefinger, Jorah, Tormund, Qyburn. Most of the TWD characters have become so one-dimensional and poorly written that their motivations don't make much sense (Carol and Morgan come to mind).

Aside from judging the quality let's get some week out predictions!

-The woodsman were those 6 lumberjacks burned in the secret history of Twin Peaks...oh flip! wrong show..

GOT:

-At first, Dany will cold shoulder Jon; focusing her power on fuging up Cersei

-1-3 of the Sandsnakes+Ellaria will perrish.  The hot one with the tits stays

-Dany v. Cersei will have a showdown that Jon interupts after capturing a proof of the WW threat.

-Cersei gets eaten by a dragon. Viserion.  (This is after Tyrion rides him for the first time, still sorta in line with MtF)

-One semi big death: Yara/Asha

-A dragon dies, an ice dragon is born

-Littlefinger-Sansa-the North perplexes me.  Baelish seems to be near the end of his rope here.  May take some time though. He dies Ep 5-6

-My big one: Brienne dies a crazy death.

None of which is in TWDs source material, which is my main complaint about both shows. The farther they stray by trying to switch it up, the worse they become.

The Weekend at Crasters episode with Bran comes to mind. Bronn, Davos, just about everyone surrounding Dany, Tormund, are all one dimensional characters whose choices don't make much sense at times. Like Davos deciding to pressure Melissandre into bringing Jon back to life. Or Tormund deciding him and Jon are BFFs 4eva. And that little piece of poo kid Ollie.  fug him.

Weiss and Benioff are riding too high on their own dicks.

Funny how people complain about how everything is poo on TWD, but love the fact that there's a goddamn tiger that knows who the real enemies are in the middle of a firefight.

Westworld imo. though for me the first season of True Detective is my favorite single season of a show period. Have had The Wire, Deadwood, and Boardwalk Empire recommended to me as well.

I've done them all but Boardwalk.  Might do that next.   Deadwood is underrated.

I can't decide on Westworld.  The gotcha moment were too obvious IMO.

and just because I haven't done it in awhile...shout out to TV Negan...the most overhyped and poorly done villain that was "supposedly" awesome in the source material.

Ever or current?

I would say Westworld was better, although it has only had one season so it is kind of an unfair comparison.

For me the best show ever just ended a month ago in The Leftovers.  That is my favorite thing I have ever seen.  That and The Wire are on another level from anything else I have ever seen on television.  My all-time #3, Six Feet Under, is also an HBO show.  They also have the top three finales for my money.

Then you have a handful of shows that all reached that level for a time but for one reason or another did not make it there overall:

Deadwood (three outstanding seasons, was canceled and never got the ending it deserved)
Boardwalk Empire and Big Love (first three seasons were outstanding but then fell off some.  Were still great but their endings were too rushed)
The Sopranos (again, outstanding at the beginning, they dragged it out too long though and the quality suffered)

Game of Thrones is in the next tier which is also where shows from other networks start coming in.  It might be able to get into that tier above it if they finish well, right now it is an unfinished product.

Of course that is just my list, depends on your taste.  A show like SFU for example is dramatically differently from GoT.  Not everyone that likes one likes the other.

in the HBO world..

I loved the Wire.  Love GOT.  Loved Deadwood. Liked Westworld.  Loved True Detective (first season) then it sucked.

I could not get past a couple episodes of Carnival, Sopranos, Oz

Leftovers might suit my taste.  If it is your best all time show then maybe I'll try that one.
