Game of Thrones Season 7

I thought last night's episode was excellent, and a good "F U" to those whining about battle scenes being weak and glossed over.

Seriously, nobody is going to talk about Bronn's epic scene that parallels Jon Snow's vs. the White Walker's at Hardhome? Same exact camera angle. Same exact feel.

Also, lmgdao when Bronn lhgdao at "Dickon."

Battle scene was very well done from start to finish, except for the minor water depth issue there at the end. I'm assuming Dany's ready to get Drogon out of there due to the injury, so I doubt she sticks around for Jaime (and presumably Bronn) to surface.

As to Jaime and Azor Ahai... I don't recall any of the prophecy involving water. It is "reborn amidst salt and smoke" IIRC. Cersei could definitely be his Nissa Nissa, but I don't see a "salt and smoke" or any other prophetic reference for him being AA at this point.

On the Arya front, I loved her scenes this week. I know who the dagger is for also.

Bran is becoming creepy as fug. I assume it is because he already knows things that have happened, and what could happen because of it.

Yeah that was the best part of a great scene. I'm a sucker for single tracking shots during battles (a la Children of Men, Hardhome).

It really showed what a badass Bronn is, and how war really is hell. The bit with Bronn seeing his gold scattered about, and having to choose between his life or the gold. Many fools would have chosen the gold, but Bronn is smarter than that. I also loved how he knew the Dothraki soldier was still after him even when it seemed like he had gotten away.

Ditto.

One theory floating around is Gendry could come back to help forge the dragon stone into weapons, being the badass blacksmith that he is.

One theory I have always liked is that we're basically witnessing a new age of gods incarnate in Westeros. Basically, all the faiths have these gods that could be represented in individuals we're learning the stories of.

Gendry could be the Smith of the Seven. Arya is easily the Stranger. Dany is the Mother. Tyrion is the Father (or the Smith?.) Sansa is the Maid. Bran could be the Crone (or the Stranger?.) Jon is the Warrior. All of these are the last children of major lineage of the major houses.

Arya could also be seen as the many faced god.

Theon or now maybe Jaime could be The Drowned God

Bran could represent the whole of the old gods.

etc.

I really think they are setting Bronn up to side back with Tyrion with the whole "paying of debts" thing.

Anyway, bitch better have my money...

I think it is kind of reaching tbqh. Was that ocean or river water?

Lots of AA theories reach, though.

Jon - when he was stabbed in the books by the Night's Watch guys, they were crying as if they didn't want to be doing it = salty tears... and his wounds were described as "smoking"

The Hound - Wounded and found/healed in the Saltpans (salt) that had been burned by Lannister forces (smoke).

Actually, I like this theory... Azor Ahai is bacon... cured porkbelly in salt and smoke, saving the world from the darkness one meal at a time...

For real, though... I'm still hoping that the hero that is going to save everyone is The Hound.

This is a cool metaphorical AA theory:

"So what does any of that have to do with the events of Season 7? Well, matttwee's theory points out that the story of Lightbringer's forging is echoed very strangely in the unexpected military defeats that Dany has suffered this season. In Episode 2, "Stormborn," Yara's ships were ambushed by Euron and his Iron Fleet on their way to pick up the Dornish army, eliminating the Mother of Dragons' two closest Westerosi allies. Then in Episode 3, "The Queen's Justice," the Lannisters allowed the Unsullied to take Casterly Rock and then cut off the soldiers' escape, effectively stranding Dany's most fearsome warriors halfway across the continent.

Now, remember the legend of Azor Ahai and Lightbringer. First, he plunged the sword into water, and it shattered — like Dany's defeat at sea by Euron Greyjoy. Then, he plunged the sword into the heart of a lion, and it shattered again — like Dany's defeat at Casterly Rock, the home of the Lannisters. One failure on the water, one failure in the literal heart of the lion's kingdom. For a show with an attention to detail as meticulous as Thrones', that's too accurate to be a coincidence. If that's not proof that Dany is the one who fulfills the prophecy of Azor Ahai, well… then it must be straight-up trolling on the part of the writers.

I believe that, some point soon, Daenerys Targaryen will have to sacrifice her family's legacy and her own birthright. Whether that means symbolically abandoning her quest to rule the Seven Kingdoms — or literally sacrificing the Iron Throne by destroying the Red Keep with her dragons — it's possible that Dany will have to kill her own ambition in order to fulfill her destiny and save the continent she has come to conquer. She will have to put aside her own quest for personal power and glory for the good of the realm."

He was trained by that big time blacksmith in King's Landing, Robert put him there to keep tabs, so he probably knows how.   That guy was also one of the few who could do Valerian steel.
