Bill Barnwell really, really, hated the signing of Matt Kalil & ignores our Draft: Gives us a C+ Offseason.

Don't even really care about the grade he gave us whatsoever.  It is interesting he doesn't touch on CMC or Samuel though.  And as far as Matt Kalil is concerned.....we had to try/do something about LT.  We're obviously really banking on a change of scenery/fresh start, playing with his brother, and the surgery doing it's job so he can be effective again.  Sure it's risky, but shell out the money if it means protecting Cam imo.

If we're one of the teams who doesn't currently have a franchise QB to try and protect, then yes we definitely overpaid, but that's not the case.

If he plays as a top 10 LT then it was a good deal.  If not it wasn't.

Also, to a lot of people there isn't really any evidence in recent history to suggest he will be a top 10 LT.  If we had paid Russell Shepard top 5 WR money people would have had a fit.

Whitworth got paid off of recent performance, with Kalil we are putting a lot of faith in our coaches.

Anyone that says anything about the Kalil contract can go to hell. WTF were we supposed to do? Sign a guy like Eric Winston and move forward with a shitty o line ??? I mean really... But that would have been wrong too. I swear this team is damned if we do and damned if we don't.

Good thing the contract was written basically as a 2 year prove it deal. We can cut him within those first 2 years with a manageable cap hit.

Came here to post this. Commentary on the Kalil contract is invalid if this statement isn't brought up.

Kalil could be awful, but he is not going to be "cripple the franchise" awful.

These pundits also didn't watch much tape of our previous tackle situation. A bad tackle is an upgrade over what we trotted out there with Remmers last year.

Whether we overpaid remains to be seen, but you gotta admit that it's good to see him in Panther blue. Looking forward to seeing these 3 causing a lot of pain this season.

His facemask looks too high and not enough protection for the chin. Get that poo sorted out Matt.
