Michael Oher Will Miss OTA's This Week

Well this out of shape thing sure is a 180 from what was being said just a few weeks ago...

Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said Friday that Oher - despite not being officially cleared - is working out vigorously with the team.
"He looks great, he sounds great, but he's still in the protocol," Gettleman said, via Panthers.com. "He's working out five days a week. He's working his fanny off. He's doing NFL workouts. He's fully engaged in that weight room."
"He's doing NFL workouts. His workouts are not for the faint of heart," Gettleman said. "That's what I can tell you."

Methinks Oher's of "the faint of heart".

The coaching staff and front office are not always honest with the media, nor are they obligated to be honest about everything.

Not going to bash Oher, and I'm going to hope he gets it together. Honestly, we need him, whether that's as a starter or for depth. Panthers are doing the right thing by giving him some time. I'm concerned about his mental. Oher had a rough beginning of life, and all it takes is a slight threat for things to be appearing like it's heading that way or a major let down for it all to spiral out of control mentally.

Welp. Hopefully a serviceable OT is cut or even traded for at this point...can't go into the season relying on essentially 3 unknowns protecting Cam.

Moton - Would think he will be raw

D. Williams - Unproven, but hopefully surprises and finds consistency

Kalil - A hyped up name...but the injuries and nobody honestly knows what we're getting there.

I tell you what.  Some of you amaze me.  When the Uber incident happened a couple of weeks ago everyone was saying the driver got what he deserved.  Whatever.  Now he's a thug.

If Gettleman is saying he is working hard and getting into shape.  I would be more inclined to believe him than some over zealous fan that says his picture in a mug shot makes him look 400lbs.

This is someone's livelihood you are talking about not some fugging game you pick and play.

Why don't some of you cut him some slack and hope everything works out.  It doesn't seem the FO is ready to axe him just yet.

If he cannot get out of the protocol that that is god's will and I wish him the best.

Till then he is a Panther and we all should support his return. After all he was the Starting LT in our greatest season ever.
