Well at least one person from back in the day.   Most of mine are 70s and 80s guys.

Unitas is my all-time hero.  When I played sports #19 was my chosen number.  The first true QB that was extremely accurate and one of the first true field generals to play football.   The Colts Offensive coordinator had the easiest job in the NFL.  Unitas called his own plays in the huddle.

Fran the man Tarkenton was a scrambling fool but loved to watch him play.  First team I ever played on, at 10 yrs old, was the Vikings so the days of Allen Page, Chuck Foreman and the wonderful days of the Purple People Eaters.

Back in the day when only two games were shown on TV getting an opportunity to see the Colts or Vikings was cool.

Mike O'Koren/Walter Davis....how about Baby Face Yonker 6-9 looked like he was 12.

Nolan Ryan probably the most technically sound pitcher, Ever.

Football Panthers - Thomas Davis, None Panther - Aaron Rodgers

MLB - David Ortiz

NCAAM - Tyler Hansbrough

MMA - Conor McGregor - all that smack talk and he usually backs it up

NCAAF - Reggie Bush - say what you will, this guy was amazing to watch when he played back in the day

NBA - Jordan, and the only person that has come close to him lately is Kobe, take that Lebron poo out of here!

There's so many to choose from the NFL past, I can't name one specific player.

Nascar, I was a big Richard Petty fan as a kid.

NBA, it was definitely Jordan. Stopped watching NBA around the time he retired.

Just like NBA, I haven't watched baseball since a kid and even then it was sparingly, but I liked Ken Griffey Jr and Cal Ripken Jr.

NHL I didn't really start watching more of it till late teens. Like NFL, theres many to choose from, but I may have to go with Gretzsky even though I liked Fedorov and Lemieux too.

Stopped watching WWE around 2003, but I'd have to say Hulk Hogan was probably my fav all time.

Never really liked boxing that much, but Ali was an icon that extended beyond boxing. My grandfather liked him a lot and Sugar Ray.

I understand the Tim Duncan call, but even as a huge Heels fan I loved me some Rodney Rogers.

Rodney was great, no doubt about it.  But Duncan always seemed to me to be a nerdy kid who found out he could play basketball.  And his loyalty, whether to Wake or the Spurs, was refreshing to see.

NBA-MJ
NFL-Dan Morgan originally Lawrence Taylor
NCAAF-Joe Morris and later every Hurricane
NCAAM-Carmelo Anthony
MLB-Derek Jeter
NHL-Wayne
Boxing-Ali
Wrestling-The Rock
MMA-Frank Mir
Golf-Tiger

For context: Born and raised in the 70s in Syracuse, NY. Older brother and myself went to University of Miami. Loved Tyson but he fell apart as a boxer and a person so I revert to Ali. Frank Mir was the only heavyweight for a long time that had actual skill. Tiger made golf fun to watch.
