I agree, but it does need to be explained a little further.

CmC is better than LF for what we are trying to do right now....LF may have been better for what other teams are trying to do.

If you have a good O Line, and "pocket passer" playing under center...yea, LF may have been better....but here?  Nah.

I like to kick the LF fire ant hills for fun >=)

Ummmm Voth, Jones, Igo, McShay, Brooks, Newton, etc all claimed we thought the world of Fournette. In addition, most sites had us taking Fournette too.

They all used lazy analysis.....Panthers are a power running team, so they will definitely take the power back.

Now, I am not saying who would have been the pick at #8 if both had been there.  However, to assume the talking heads have a clue is a stretch.

We could have wanted CMC all along and had Fournette as a smokescreen....we also could have determined that Fournette would be long gone at #8 and moved on to Plan B months in advance.  Who knows.

But, the only thing the guys you mentioned have in common is that they are NOT privy to any real Panthers insider info about our draft board.

I don't know why some posters have tied up so much of their ego and credibility in conversations about the draft and whether we got the guys we wanted. This whole McCaffrey versus Fournette debate is ridiculous. Almost all the mock drafts had us with one or the other. Fournette early and McCaffrey late. If Fournette had fallen  we could have answered the question about which we wanted more. As it is, we know certain things. We were  not moving up to get Fournette and wouldn't trade down and gladly pulled the trigger  on  Christian when he were there at 8.  Given Fournette was gone the whole debate becomes moot.  We had a crew from Panthers.com outside McCaffreys house.  Was there one at Founette's house? Doubt we wouldn't have covered our bases and been there as well if we  would have taken him at 8 if he were  available. Of the two, only McCaffrey visited with J.R. .  I know JR met with Cam  did he meet with first round prospects since then? This all appears to be a slam dunk and frankly count me in the group that championed the idea that McCaffrey was a great pick at 8 and with Stewart here for 2 years, McCaffrey was going to be the most impactful of the 2. Wouldn't be surprised if McCaffrey and Curtis both vie for offensive rookie of the year.

Who the hell is Edgar Salmingo this is no more than a fan piece

What i do know about him after meeting him at numerous Angel City Riot events, he has written for numerous sites. He also has a Ph.D so he's not an average Joe.

I may have a source that has told me that Christian will be the pick at 8. Pretty good source and they are more than confident. Thin walls at BOA and lots of loose lips.

I hate to bring this up but I told you guys about Pep before it happened and I told you about CMC before it happened.
Some of you guys just don't listen.  Or you have an agenda.

    • his height, size and arm will forever cause problems and limitations...that is what it is.  I think to a degree, the law of averages is just coming into play a bit with him.  So as he plays more and more, you just flat out get the decent days mixed in too.  Which is just going to happen.
    • Good point. He's definitely better in 10-15 yards. I think that's his biggest improvement. But he wasn't 3-10 +15, he was 3-7, with at least one drop (minor but still). And with multiple passes at 14 yards completed. This passing chart doesn't look like at By one, lol. He threw more "deep" passes than Mahomes (NOT comparing him to Mahomes in a skill way lol), or at least more beyind 10 yards.
    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
