Asheville looks great on paper but it's full of jerks from about 4 different extreme stereotypes. 

Wrong. Asheville is a diverse and cool city. Great beer, food, music and vibe. People are people, some good some bad. Western NC is a great place for the most part. Go to Asheville.... go out and hike and try trout fishing.
Go listen to some great music at the beer joints. Check out 12 bones bbq for some great good. Enjoy the Blue Ridge mountains.

I wouldnt actually live in the Charlotte City Limits... way too many cars, people, one way roads, traffic, noise, crime, pollution.... move out in Suburbs... or.. do what I did.. and moved to the country.... its quiet, laid back, no traffic, open roads, minor crime, town closes up at 9... its awesome.

Ive never been to Seattle but I've been to Portland twice in the past 6 months and loved it. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful. I'm sure if I lived there my whole life though I'd like a change of scenery.

Also coming from the west coast to the south is going to be like going back in time 30 years. The south is the least progressive region in the United States. IT'S GREAT!

Best bbq joint in town right now is probably buxton hall. Their sides are just ridiculous. Tupelo Honey is not worth the wait at all. 

Biscuit head is whatever. the best like fancy poo poo vegan grass cows volunteered to be slaughtered type breakfast is sunny point on the west side. Be alarmed there's a substantial wait for that place on the weekend. 

if you want the best trashy breakfast youve ever had in your life, Happy Jacks on Tunnel Road is nuts. They do breakfast nachos which are basically cheap shitty nachos + scrambled eggs and bacon.
