Tampa is terrible. Atlanta didn't blow us out, even though we played poorly, and the Saints have an inconsistant offense (based on last season). We hung in there against Dallas, and if not for bogus offensive PI call, we might have won.

Harris will be back after the bye, and Moore may become a factor in our passing game. Not to mention DT Hollis Thomas should help stiffen the run defense, and help free up our LBs. Beason has, by his own admission, not been playing well at all. That's going to change. We all know he's a pro-bowl LB. Thomas Davis is playing the best football of his career, and he's determined to get to the pro-bowl this season. Keep in mind that there is a learning curve for a new defensive scheme. And not all players learn at the same speed. I think the secondary will continue to improve, and iron out some of the recent mental errors.

Offensiely speaking, I hate to blame any one player, but Moose just isn't winning his battles 1-on-1. That's a huge part of why our offense looks so stagnant. We may replace Moose with Moore, now that he has had some time in our system. If we go with Moore, then Jake can try to hit Moore 1-on-1, and see what he can do after the catch. Moore might be the right WR to keep opposing defenses honest, then the running game will open up.

I'm dissappointed in our special teams, but really the problem is mental errors, not talent. I'm expecting a better perfomance from that unit coming out of the bye.

If the Panthers continue to improve in all 3 phases (big if), then the playoffs are not out of the question.

Nice post, but three things I have issues with:

1.) When was the Saints offense anything OTHER than consistent, even last year? I do so hope you meant their defense.

2.) We hung with Dallas the first half. You can't chalk up the loss to ONE PI call (right or wrong) when we didn't even get a first down until what? 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter?

3.) Moose isn't a breakout receiver that makes huge plays. He is a blocking receiver that can take shots and occasionally get a quick post or slant. I'm not really sure how you can blame him at all really. Jake rarely looks his way unless he is in trouble and Ken Moore, while promising, is nowhere near the talent level of Moose.

Also, the running game isn't going to open up just because we have a rookie receiver in there making plays. Until Jake proves he won't turn the ball over, every team is going to stack the box, double Smith and dare us to throw it. You take away the run game, Carolina becomes a horrendous 1-dimensional passing team.

Let's try to keep homerism at home and not on the forums.

I'm on my IPhone, so I can't quote.

1.) Yes I mean the Saints offense. Watch their offense agianst us (1st half) horrible, (second half) amazing. Plenty of other examples.

2.) I hate typing on this tiny screen, so I'll finish this later lol.

Hmm...well in our first meeting, they actually put up more yards than we did including 115 yards rushing and over 200 yards passing. They just committed a couple turnovers in crucial places. And the 2nd meeting they posted 417 yards. I wouldn't call 700+ yards over two games "inconsistent."

Throughout the season, Brees averaged 316 yards per game. While their oft-lamented rushing attack put up a tad bit (99.8) under 100 yards per game.

I hate defending the Saints, but just because they happen to be doing much better than us this season doesn't mean they deserve to be talked about like they were an awful team. I would totally agree about their 2008 defense, but offense? Pfff come on man....

To me it's all very simple. Let em put 8 in the box over and over and over and over, stop the run go ahead and do it, then hit em with a play action.

This shouldn't be all that difficult.

That would be all well and good but if they are stopping the run.....then that means the ball isn't moving....which means the Panthers get into 3rd & long situations. AWFUL idea. Play action only works when the RUN is working because the secondary starts to slide up ever so slightly with each rush giving the WRs more and more room.

Come on people, think with your heads!!!

Yes, this is our record. This is the bed we have made, now we have to sleep in it. Its sad that a team with this type of history of doing so well has folded so early. Its no secret that folks are upset, and everyone understands why....

HOWEVER..... We are only 0-3. Even though the playoff look out of reach, its not set in stone.

I am not trying to be a blind homer, all I a trying to say is that our chance is not yet over.

Keep you heads up and look forward to our next game, it could be the start of something good.

None of us know!!!!!

...especially in pure Panthers fashion.

Dude, we're goin to Bon Jovi this sh!t...

Delhomme used to work on the docks

O'lines been on strike

He's down on his luck...it's tough, so tough

Smittie works the DB's all day

Working for the win, he brings home the catches all day

For love - for love

He says: We've got to hold on to what we've got

'Cause it doesn't make a difference

If we make it or not

We've got each other and that's a lot

For love - we'll give it a shot

Ohh We're half way there

Livin' on 3rd and 20

Take my handoff and we'll make it - I swear

Livin' on a prayer

Peppers got his sacks in hock

Now he's holding in what he used

To make - so tough, it's tough

Dwill dreams of running away

When he cries in the night

Delhomme whispers: Baby it's okay, someday

We've got to hold on to what we've got

'Cause it doesn't make a difference

If we make it or not

We've got each other and that's a lot

For love - we'll give it a shot

We're half way there

Livin' on a prayer

Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear

Livin' on a prayer

We've got to hold on ready or not

You live for the fight when it's all that you've got

We're half way there

Livin' on a prayer

Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear

Livin' on a prayer
