Your Panthers fandom biography...

Been a fan since 2000/2001, and I was born and raised on the south side of  Winston-Salem, NC.

I became a fan at 10 years old, when the panthers were in the midst of a 1-15 season. It was tough being a fan, because they sucked. My pop got me a jersey, and I remember everyone used to clown and jank. "Why you wearing that trash jersey...you know they suck?" Even with all that, I stuck with them. I stuck by them because they're the home team and back then I had a thing for the underdog. I wanted to follow the team that nobody liked.

I went to my first home game back in 2002 against Tampa, but my most memorable game is in 2007 when we faced the Saints in New Orleans. I was visiting my aunt in Mississippi at the time, and my buddy had copped us tickets since NO was a short ways away. I was 18 at the time and remember talking trash with this drunk ass lady the whole game. She was lit. Her husband wanted to fight me, but he knew better than to try it plus she started it lol. I just remember at the end when Kasay hit the game winner, she tried to get out of there fast without acknowledging me, but her drunk butt ended up damn near falling. I remember helping her husband get her out of there, and she kissing me on the cheek. I thought her husband was gonna explode. I'll never forget that game man

I was a student at UNCC when Charlotte was awarded the franchise. I remember they were showing a local t-shirt factory on the news and the Supervisor had his hand on a lever. As soon as the announcement was made, he threw the switch and started printing t-shirts. My roommate and I went out at 6:00 AM looking for shirts (and found them).

My favorite memory was sitting first row, directly up the goal line, in season 2 against the Bucs. Most fans had left because we were up 24-0 but we ended up making a goal line stand to preserve the shut out with just a few seconds remaining. That or the 'rain' game against the Saints to win the division a couple of years ago. Especially since I live in Virginia now and don't get to games real often.

Got it at Belks...yes?

I once had wealth, power, and the love of a beautiful woman. Now I only have two things: my friends, and... uh... my thermos. Huh? My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi...

Jerk....

I'm not a complicated man. I like cinema. In particular, I like to see people fuging on film. But I don't want to win an Oscar and I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I like simple pleasures...like butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy. Call me crazy, call me a pervert...but there's one little thing I want to do in this life and that is to make a dollar and a cent in this business.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!

Family moved from Charlotte to ATL in 86, then I arrived.  My first team was the Braves (First autograph--Steve Avery) but moved to the QC in 91 at 5.  Panthers and Hornets were always and to this day my two teams in any sport. Parents bought PSLs at the get-go and went to every home game up until around 2004.  In later years, I decided to design wineries, roof decks, and parks all over and haven't been to a game in a while.  Last one..it's hard to even remember now which sucks.  Only some thousand miles away now...still support them out here.

Long time reader and feel this is the perfect thread to post for the first time.

Growing up in Scotland, NFL wasn't very close to the top of the list of popular sports. I was first introduced to the sport in early 2004 and as luck would have it, the first game I watched was the Panthers heroic effort in Philly in the Championship game, I was immediately hooked. The fight that the team showed was like little I had ever seen before, and despite not knowing what was going on most of the time, I knew this team was for me. Over the next few years, I learned the sport and got to know the players. Delhomme was and always will be my favourite Panther, his jersey still hangs proudly on my wall. I've never been to a Panthers game but it has been a few years now since I missed a game on TV (I consider watching every game of the 2-14 season as one of my biggest sporting achievements), despite the often sadistic times the games are on over here. I now get the same feeling of elation and despair from watching Panther games as I do when watching my local football (soccer) team. From a 12 year old staying up past my bedtime to watch the games until now, my passion for the team has only grown stronger. I proudly label myself as Scotland's biggest Panther fan (and will do until someone proves otherwise), I hope that one day soon I will be able to take down that Delhomme jersey, pop across the water and join you all at BOA stadium.

Yooooo I'm going on a trip to Scotland next week. Who's your local soccer club over there?

Didn't grow up in a football household, heck I didn't even grow up in a household that watches sports. I'm the only one in my family (hell even cousins too) that loves sports. Anyways I was about 10,11,12 years old flipping through the channels one day and I came across the Panthers Cardinals game where Vinny Testaverde led us to victory. Haven't looked back since. Still never been to a game :(

Nice! My team is Heart of Midlothian (Hearts), they are the top team in Edinburgh, but pretty unsuccessful historically as Scottish football is dominated by two teams from Glasgow. The club has quite a cool history, from the whole team leaving to volunteer in WW1 to the fans buying the club a couple of years ago after the Lithuanian/Russian owner was declared bankrupt (now in prison).

Hope you have a great time in Bonnie Scotland :)
