Potential Hornets Draftees

Recommended Posts

Ok, since we are likely going to end up with the 11th pick, let's take a look at who might be available at 11.  Would you be happy with any of these?  Lots of bigs left on the board after the top 10, in my opinion.

Zach Collins - C - 7'0" 230 - Gonzaga

Justin Patton - C - 7'0" 230 - Creighton

John Collins - PF/C - 6'10" 235lbs - Wake Forest

Bam Adebayo - PF/C - 6'10" 255 - Kentucky

Personally, I'd love to see a guy like Justin Patton come to Charlotte.  Incredibly athletic 7-footer with unlimited potential.

I am not a UNC fan, but I also recognize what Jackson could bring to the table.  6'8", athletic, and a great shooter.  Also seems like a good kid.

I'm a UNC alum and have watched a lot of Justin Jackson. He's going to need to put some weight on to be a good scorer in the NBA and really hone in on his jumper (which is improving). He got away a lot in college just because of his length and nice touch on his floaters.

Won't be mad if we draft him but I desperately want to sign JJ Reddick if we do- to help mentor JJ part two Justin Jackson

personally im hoping portland might fall in love with someone at #11 (zach collins?) and be willing to trade #15 & #20. then hope that donovan mitchell is still there (he's touted at going anywhere from 12-20) and select a high risk/high reward big at #20 - one of john collins, justin patton, jonathan jean or harry giles will be on the board or maybe safer picks of tj leaf or ivan rabb.

although i think we could pick up zach collins at #11 and he will be a nice, solid player, we need to be aiming for a star. i was concerned with mitchell's size at 2guard, but he's got a 6"10 wingspan (apparently) which made me sit up a bit and makes me more comfortable in starting him next to Kemba (or sadly, more likely coming off the bench). he has defensive potential, which fits in with our identity and can score (but needs refinement). i cant really see any other wings that are likely to push the needle once monk comes off the board (unless you put faith in kennard's scoring transitioning to the pro's successfully?)

Given who I expect to be gone, and I dont give damn where he is from, the Hornets should take Justin Jackson.  He can score, fairly good rebounder and defender and was light years better last season.  He still has room to improve as well.  We dont need another Frank type.  Just take Jackson and live with it.
