“I’m thrilled that Brandon has been selected as general manager of the Bills. He has worked his way from the bottom up and is prepared for this. He is thoughtful, meticulous, and a leader. He was instrumental in what we have been able to accomplish in Carolina in the past few years, winning three division titles, an NFC Championship and earning a Super Bowl appearance. His wide variety of knowledge and experience will serve him well in Buffalo. I wish Brandon, Hayley, Tyson and Wes nothing but the best.”

On Wednesday, Gettleman made an appearance on ‘The John Murphy Show’ on WGR550, the  Bills’ flagship radio station and continued to express just how much of a positive impact that Beane would have on Buffalo’s organization.

Panthers GM Dave Gettleman on #Bills new GM Brandon Beane "The people up there should be excited about him walking in the building."

Bills GM Brandon Beane will have control of the 53-man roster

That's according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Beane's actual power is still in question given his ties to coach Sean McDermott. The Buffalo News suggests McDermott "will be the one that makes the final call" if need be. Beane has a strong background as a personnel man, but it's become clear he won't have total control in Buffalo.

I never said to excuse him of anything. I was on the fire hurney train, and he had his flaws, don't think he was cut out to be a gm. But as patient as JR is, I don't think Hurney gets fired at that time if Ron wasn't out there coaching not to lose instead of coaching to win. He would have eventually been gone and I'm glad we got it out of the way, but Ron was our biggest issue that year, not the roster.

There were a lot of sour grapes left over from '10 and it took time to flush that hangover out of the locker room.  As much as I love the guys that we're let go like Beason and Smitty I know it was a necessary step to rejuvenizing this team.

im not laying 10 at MH feet either I'm just saying that with a poo GM an inexperienced coaching staff, a cap overhaul and bad blood left over from an even worse season all lead to our overall poor performance.

Look again.....like Waldo, you will eventually find it.

My sentence structure is good, but yours is not. It's three periods to make a  ellipsis and you didn't capitalize after. I think this lesson is done. Mic drop...

I am calling collusion during the draft. Yes, I believe shady stuff like that happens. It was too suspicious. Now this reaffirms my belief.

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
