Panthers Linebacker Logjam

We always seem to go into training camp with an embarrassment of riches for linebackers. That's a pretty good situation to be in. Should lead to some good camp competitions.

Also, is there any chance they may take Cash and shift him back to safety?

Until someone takes it away the spots are Cash and Jacobs to lose.

I agree.  Norris is in the mix with them too.  Jacobs is coming off injury, so Norris has the edge in terms of more play in 2016, but Jacobs the overall edge in experience.

My current hunch is that we keep 7 with Cash, Jacobs & Norris all making it.  But if only 6, I would guess it would be both Norris & Boulware to PS.

Steve Smith had insane athletic ability.

Boulware has the drive, but lacks the physical ability. That can get you by in college, but is so much more difficult at the pro level. I am pulling for him, but he has a tough road ahead.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Smitty only had lack of height going against him (in the days of 'we love tall receivers'). Boulware is lacking in quite a few athletic measurables.

Absolutely, Steve was far more athletic but that chip on his shoulder to prove everyone wrong is the same with Boulware.  The video of Boulware I saw, many times he diagnosed the play well before the snap and making the move to stop it as soon as the snap  occurred.  That will make up for lack of speed.  I think he is going to prove everyone wrong.

I hope so as well, but will probably either just pick him up as a Rotational LB or not even make the 53 man Roster

You can add Cash to the locks IMO. I would like to see Norris or Boulware step up. Jacobs is pushing 30 and he can't be that great on special teams considering how poorly that unit has played the past few years. Time to get the roster younger.

I think so. He's not through cooking yet, and they want more taste tests.

Boulware should make the team if Cash made it last year.

Because they're both LB'rs? Both UDFA's? Sorry, that makes no sense. They're very different players.

    • Yes I have. Have you? If you know anything about body language which I'm guessing you don't, it communicates what you're really thinking. People lie with words everyday. Very few people have enough control over their bodies to lie with that as well. So, if you want to know the truth, ignore their planned responses and read their body language.  You say he's pissed, I don't see pissed. I see indifference. He shrugs his shoulders like 10 times. What does a shoulder shrug usually mean when we communicate? It means I don't know. No me. Not my problem. etc. Everything he said was dismissed as I don't know, no my problem.  If he were pissed their should have been more aggressive motions and when people are pissed the eyes narrow.  There was non of that. Watch the Dalton video when he got benched in Cinci. He was pissed and his body language shows it. He shakes his head no aggressively when talking about the decision which matches his words that he disagrees with the decision, his eyes narrow and he rocks from side to side leaning in slightly on his right side. That's a sign of aggression which means anger.
    • well, if you put in stock into Tom Brady's opinions.  He said the young QBs shouldn't be playing.  He said they are setup to lose.  They don't have time to learn how to play QB in the NFL.  So what teams do is they dumb down literally everything for the young QBs and throw them into the fire.  Which for a Bryce is REALLY going to hurt.....because he doesn't even have average physical tools, let alone doesn't have break glass emergency skills to overcome anything.  Brady implied even ones playing well aren't really playing QB at a high level.
    • I think we’re past trying to tailor fit an offense for Bryce. He won’t study it or put in extra work during the offseason anyway.
