I think NFL players have shorter careers and non-guaranteed contracts so over-extending themselves and then not being able to keep up with a certain lifestyle becomes prevalent.

Despite having underarmor money and his contract. Fournette will be supporting 5 wife's before his career is over. The writing is on the wall.

Yes, I know the car from Fournette was a gift, although she may have asked for it.   Whether she did or didn't is irrelevant.  And for all we know,  Cam may well have bought his mom a car, but it might not have been publicized. For all we know, Cam's mom might drive around in a new Ferrari. My point was that there is nothing wrong or frivolous about buying your mom a new car, even an expensive one.   I was at work the day that Chris Paul's mom drove up in a top of the line BMW the day after he announced for the NBA.  And he has by most reports, spent wisely.  Still took care of Mom.  In fact, I wouldn't trust any son who came into a lot of money and wouldn't do, or at least offer to do something like that for his Mom.

You'd be surprised how costly car maintenance can be. That's why you swap cars once the warranty expires. Problem is that a player might be out of the league by then.

Oh, I agree....Land Rovers, Benz, BMW's, etc...

 

Just pointing out that these guys write that initial check, and forget about the rest....and a lot of them that live near the beach towns buy big boats with no clue as to the annual cost to maintain and operate it.

Buddy of mine just sold a 65 foot fishing boat that cost about 20-30k a month to maintain and operate...that ish adds up fast.

My point is that most prof athletes (even the elite ones) end up flat broke at a very early age because they go bat poo crazy with crazy spending.

His signing bonus is 17 million dollars. You realize that 1% earners could take 34 years to make that much money....and plenty of them own $100k cars. He did it with a stroke of the pen and it doesn't include his salary, incentives, or endorsements. Fournette could be worth north of $25 million at the end of 2017.

So did Allen Iverson. Your making this about the mom and not about the money. I guess Fournette needed 2k shoes to get around in as well.

Cam makes around $50 million a year in endorsements and his football contract. Pretty sure he will be fine barring a PR issue.

Dude has only a few cars in 6 years with sponsors and a contract. Fournette will have that next week. Along with a midget gucci Taylor for quck ugly shoes.

People forget one thing about salaries...  Tax.  Take whatever they make and devide by 2.  Many young adults get burned by salary number illusion.
