Panthers QB Garrett Gilbert

Panthers free agent Garrett Gilbert looked pretty darn good in rookie camp. Kid is 6'2 230, pretty mobile, nice arm.

I feel like he could be worth stashing on the practice squad. DA won't be around forever.

Also, notice Hall in hot pursuit.

Let's make some assumptions when we discuss OTAs and parts of camp where the team is not wearing full pads or engaging in full-contact activities:

1. All participants are not wearing full protective padding and any comment about a player's ability in game simulations is based on the knowledge that eventually, if they are to help the professional football win games, they will do so in pads playing against a fully-padded team from another city.

2.  These players have worn pads before and been successful wearing said pads, evidence by the fact that their invitations to the activity is based on fully-padded performance and not partially-padded performance in simulated conditions.

3. Should said pads be removed in activities designed to evaluate talent and prepare individuals for padded activities, that any comments made about the quality of performance is made with the understanding that the participant and recipient of those comments, direct or indirect in nature, are made with the full knowledge and understanding that protective padding to some degree is amiss.

The fine print (illegible here) reads:  "Don't make the dumbass comment, "But he is not in pads" or "wait until they put the pads on" as if it is insight we need to grasp the enormity of the situation. Nobody reacts to a comment like that with, "By golly, you know he's right.  They aren't wearing pads and I was foolish for making a statement about his football ability when the man is obviously padless." We know they are not wearing pads, Columbus.

I'm fine if he turns out to be a keeper, but he's been signed and released by 4 teams since he was a 6th round pick in '14. He was a 5 star prospect coming out of high school, but he sure hasn't lived up to that rating. I can't find any info on his weaknesses with a quick search, but he obviously has some.

Since we've brought in more special teams players and returners, do we still need to keep Webb?

Good question. Webb is disposable I think now.

Nice picture by the way too @Jeremy Igo

I wanted Taco Charlton bad. Well, this guy has freak size too. I like this pick a lot. Hopefully he picks a # in the 70's
