Fastest Panther Currently and Sleeper..Marvin Bracy?

Recommended Posts

It would be stupid not giving him a training camp spot.

Honestly his hands aren't even my concern. (See Ginn)

These track guys sometimes struggle with agility and change of direction.

His strong football background is great news though. If he can change direction with burst, then watch the fug out.

Take from this what you will...his agility looks pretty good to me on punt return.

I may be unhitching myself from the Byrd train as well, and hitching it to Bracy's lol.  I remembered seeing him and hearing about him during the Olympics, but didn't realize we had him until someone tweeted about him yesterday.  The problem historically with the Olympic Track-Hopeful guys is that they mostly only excelled in football because of their speed, but not necessarily any actual football skills.  Even our own Michael Bates was a WR who didn't play WR, lol, he was just so damn fast that he could return kicks (and cover them) like nobody's business.  In Bracy's case, he appears to possibly be the exception to the rule.  He was a 4-star recruit, went to a college football powerhouse as evidence, but then went after his dreams in track...  Regardless, he appears to have some natural football instincts and skills aside from his world-class speed - looks to be a natural hands catcher and his speed translates to the field.  Also, FWIW, IIRC, Voth tweeted yesterday during the practice to keep an eye out on Bracy as a guy to possibly emerge from camp.  I'm hopeful about this guy and stoked about our overall upgrade in the speed category across the board.

I'm definitely intrigued by this kid. But why wasn't he in the draft? Cus of the Olympics?

Last year we were SLOW.

Slow to get to the huddle after a play. Slow to get a play call from Shula. Slow to the line of scrimmage. Receivers (minus ginn) slow to run routes.

So...we need more than just fast receivers.

I agree the whole process has to be improved, but the one thing I'm hopeful of is YAC. Seemed like Carolina played catch last year, where the WR caught the ball was were the play ended. I'm hoping all this new speed will relate to yardage after the catch.
