Teams are waiting until next week when they can sign FA and not have them count towards the comp pick formula. I don't believe it matters to the Panthers we've signed Peppers, Kalil, Shephard, Captain and Adams, and only lost Remmers, Ginn, Klein and Philly. Regardless there will be a flurry of signing next week.

It seems highly unlikely we will sign anyone with name recognition to be a backup safety. Coleman and Adams have historically played over 90% of there snaps over the past 2 years. We don't rotate safeties in often for fresh legs or scheme purposes. Can't commit a lot of money to a position where we likely will never see the backup play. 

I think we stick with young guys like Marlowe who are very affordable and hardly effect the cap. If an injury happens, we may sign a vet at that point but I think anyone looking for a name you've heard of to join our depth chart anytime soon is highly unlikely.

The Jets were in freefall mode and decided not to keep him, even as an IR designated player. He might be a local guy, but that can't outweigh the fact that his injury and age could be putting him at the end of his career.

I wish him well, but we should pass on the opportunity.
