Unpopular Panthers Opinions

fans questioning Cam's heart when the going gets tough is pretty disturbing. Dude has played through broken ribs, concussions, fractured back, torn rotator cuff, rehab from ankle surgery. He's been beaten and bruised and played through it. That's what leaders of football teams do. Besides the injuries he's played through, think of all the games we were down where he rallied the troops to a win. Seattle 2015 @ Seattle and that march down the field, gaming winning pass to Olsen basically propelled us to the most successful season in our franchise. I just don't really know where that kind of talk is coming from.

Are suggesting our struggles in 2016 were because Cam lacked heart? He took an absolute beating in the opener and still put is in position to win in Mile High only for us all to watch our kicker who is one of the highest paid at his position shank yet another crucial kick.

If he had it in 2015 it didn't simply go on hiatus, did it?

You're a smart dude. So stand by your comment, or retract it. Don't move the goal posts like a coward.

Okay, let's roll with it, because Lord knows we need to drag this crap out into the yard all over again.

In 2015, we were on an epic winning streak. Cam was in high spirits, the whole team had it. When you are winning, and when you've had to gut out a few close ones, you can get that lift. Heck, we even over celebrated most of the time, led by our famed and beloved (heck, I love the guy, too) QB. We went into the Superb Owl on top of the world and cocky as hell -- dumbass Norman was even giving interviews in a luchador's mask.

And then we got hit in the mouth by a Denver team that was better prepared, tougher and just chomping at the bit to take down the league's loudmouth braggart team. It was an ass-whoopin' that is played out at dive bars and clubs around the nation ever Saturday night. They slammed the face of the franchise again and again, and just embarrassed him in front of millions and millions of people. After the show, he even acted like the guy who just got his butt kicked being asked by the crowd "Hey man, that looked like it hurt, did it?"

And he sulked for a while then came back to training camp and went to work again. Still sore but smiling.

And the season starts off with Denver. They come out and play like they wanted to remind him whose b!tch he was. They pounded him, took some obviously illegal hits at him, and knocked the dog water out of the guy. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair, but it was football.

The presser after that show, once again, set the mood for the year. Let's not go through that long, painful slog of futility and despair that was the 2016 season. Suffice it to say, we only saw glimpses of AceBoogie on the field. His clothing choices were more notable than his play.

Let's not try to defend the guy's past, going back to the sulking on the end of the bench with a towel over his head moments. Let's just hope the guy is growing up and proving that he's a fighter.

Can he be Muhammad Ali -- wading back into the fray after every big hit, wanting to fight some more. Or will he be Roberto Duran crying out "No mas, no mas"? I hope it's the first, because if not, every tough team has the blueprint for breaking Cam.

And smartish guy, I never moved the goal posts, but you sure did pull 'em back for a chip shot there.

Maybe, maybe not.

I think that there is a certain amount of people that side with management/ownership, and another group that sides more with the worker/player.  Maybe race has something to do with it, maybe it's just the way your brain is wired, I don't know, but I'm not going to throw that around lightly.

That wasn't even directed at you.

Anyways.

I still find it strange that guys are getting all warm and fuzzy talking about Jake being our best QB ever, like 2009 never happened. Then we immediately get commentary about Newton lacking heart, complete with people lining up to pie said comment. Seriously? Where have these people been the last several years?

To be clear, I like Jake. Went through some tough times, but he was a good QB that ultimately in the end just fizzled out too quickly. I felt bad for him. But I'm not going to trash him, and I'm certainly not going to trash Newton. Because both QB's have immense heart, and if not for our franchise connecting with them at the time that they did, we would not have been able to witness two Super Bowls already in the history of our young franchise.

So, anyone sitting behind a smartphone screen questioning Cam Newton's heart is at absolute best simply out of touch with reality, and at absolute worst, possibly being motivated by other factors out of the control of our current QB.

Interesting how some white guys here will be quick as hell to immediately go to bat for our owner who literally told our black QB not to get tattoos or corn rows before we agreed to draft him, but can also nonchalantly claim that same QB lacks heart after watching him literally do flips into end zones over defensive lines just to score a touchdown for his team.

Man we have some real pieces of work in this fanbase.

Race had absolutely nothing to do with either of my responses. But it always eventually pops up with you. I'm sorry for you man, I really am.

From your statement above, and others previously about me and other posters, I am going to have to assume that this is always going to be your nuclear option and you will use it early. You're neither fun, nor enlightening and your preconceptions and prejudices make conversations with you pointless and frustrating.

We're done.

Oh, so that's who you are, huh?

One of those "towel on the head", "sulking" Panthers fans, huh?

Sounds to me like you merely tolerated Cam through 2015, and once our whole team started to struggle in 2016 you went right back to your towel narrative.

Frankly I have zero respect for fans like you.

We don't need to quote each other anymore now. Thanks. Bye.

I agree with you, however there were posters on this very board screaming their lungs out about how inconsistent Jake was, how we needed something other than a New Orleans knockoff to keep going to the playoffs....etc, etc.

It's just part of the deal.

Yes, questioning Cam's heart is pretty stupid...but lot's of people are pretty stupid, and when they can hide behind an avatar, they will spout stupid things.

Cam is our best QB in franchise history, but that doesn't mean that Jake can't be your favorite player....it's not a knock on Cam, it's just who they like more.

- Jake Delhomme is the luckiest Panther player ever

- Jerry Richardson's team philosophy will always hold this franchise back

- Cam will throw this franchise under the bus once he retires

- Cam cannot beat Von Miller

Jake Delhomme made Steve Smith just as much as steve made jake. They go hand in hand.

Patriots would have won in Superbowl 38 if kasay kept the ball in bounds anyway.

Corey Brown should have been starting wr in 2016.

Cam should have been pulled and not kept playing after he was injured last year.

Unpopular ones
1. Shula sucks
2.Every single move our gm make is the goat football decision
3. Stewart was a better rb then Williams
4. Any player that leaves the team whether voluntarily or not is immediate the worst player to ever suit up

Plenty of more but the ones I vividly remember
