Besides the fact they won't do a black Bond because of the angry whites.  To my understanding, they want a younger actor to play Bond for a rebooting of the franchise.

Because Daniel Craig gas been very public in his desire to leave the franchise.  They want to find a guy in his early 30s to be a new Bond.

Personally, Idris Elba would be a phenomenal Bond.

Were he white, he'd already have been cast as Bond imo...  age be damned.  Besides that, they could easily get 4 movies out of him as Bond.  That discussion should probably be another thread.

Kept up with the series through the first 6 novels and then lost interest.

My concern is that DT, like so much of King's work, is going to damned hard to adapt for the screen.  So much of King's writing is about what his characters are thinking and feeling more than what they are doing.

I hope they knock it out of the park but Im not going to get my hopes up.

I think with the quality of cast, they can do a lot to tell a story.  The film is not based in the story from the books, but rather pulls a lot of influence from the various stories and characters, but it revolves around the Gunsligner, Man in Black and Jake.

I think the film is going to be your typical anti-hero turned hero story:  MiB is trying to destroy the tower, Roland is wandering, search for him and the Tower, Jake shows up, adventures, climactic battle, sacrifice, time magic, everyone is OK.  If it does well, next film is ready to produce.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

Well I stayed up til 2am last night and finished the novels.  Anyone else nonplussed by the ending? Very Terry Brooks-ish for me.

Sadly, most are saying the film was a complete let down. Confusing and dumbed down...

I may just end up waiting on it to stream...

Was going to go see it but the reviews have really turned me off.

i understand it can act as a "sequel "....

but it far too much sounds like something different. Loved the books except the 6th one. Wolves of the Calla is amazing.

To be fair, King's narrator in the book did suggest that the readers not read on through the 'ending'...

Incredible series overall though, and while I love Elba I really wish they hadn't tried to make a movie of it.
