Will Cam adjust to a short passing game?

I never figured us to go with McC anyway because he did not fit our offense.  But, looks like we are gonna run a new offense.

Mechanics will be hugely important for Cam in hitting the guys across the middle.  It is important to hit them in stride so they can pick up YAC.  If they have to jump to catch a 9 foot pass or stop because it is behind them, then the offense will not accomplish nearly as much.  Cam can throw it through a brick wall, but foot movement will be the key for him this coming season

You act like Brady and Brees both don't thorw a poo ton of long strikes to go with that dinking and dunking.

Compared to who???

if you go on % they don't throw deep, especially compared with Cam or Andrew Luck, Roethlisberger.

He definitely will now that we have a couple guys on the roster that can actually play in the slot and get quick separation.  We all have seen Cam's success in the hurry up.  CMC and CS are gonna make our O line look better than they really are....or at least I'm hoping so.

If you go back to 2015, Cam completed 76% of his passes behind the LOS and 64% of his passes that traveled 1-10 yards. Even last year, with Fozzy coming out of the backfield, he caught 25 of 33 attempts.

Yeah, I think Cam can adjust to the shorter passing game. This doesn't mean we're going to stop attacking down the field, hopefully it just means that we aren't so damn predictable with nearly every passing play consisting of keeping additional blockers in to help protect and then three guys running slow developing downfield routes. That's not a recipe for consistent success.

The onus is on Shula. He has to create plays that get athletes out in space. We haven't really had that option lately with the lack of athletes (in the NFL context) on the perimeter. My biggest issue with Shula is it seemed like he had the same routes planned for each receiver position, without taking into account the receiver who would be running the route. So we have Ginn running Benjamin routes, Funchess running Ginn routes, and Brown running Funchess routes, instead of the play design taking advantage of what each guy has to offer.

Hopefully some of that speed underneath will force the safeties to disregard the outside man leaving some one on one opportunities for Fun and Benji, because we all know that given the opportunity, those two can win those battles.

You want routes going deep, middle, and short. You want to attack every part of the field.

With plays that attack the style and plays of the D.

You take what the offense gives you.

Too often than not it seems we try to force plays instead of just taking what the D gives.

Cams first season he threw a lot of short passes-- anyone remember the short pass to mike Goodson to win a game? Stuffed on the goal line--

Then there were short passes to Stewart quite a bit-- and to others we had at the time.

We got away from a short game and never went back to it.

Maybe now,..
