A lot of the defense struggling under Chud was the offense having lots of 3 and outs and failing to control the clock. The defense was on the field too long. Plus we were behind much of the time so many of Chuds and Cam's yards were in junk time and after the game was already decided. That is the biggest reason we were 13 and 19 under Chud. The defense suddenly got better when Shula takes over and we go 12-4. But the defense got better in spite of Shula and the new ball control offense had little to do with it. You don't need to explain anything to me.

Chud was also slinging the ball over the field auditioning for a HC job which is what he really wanted. Ball control with the run wasn't in his best interest. He underutilized the RBs which was a real issue for the team.
