We didn't fire Shula because the Panthers know it would be unfair to do so based on last year

It would not have been for last year alone.

It would have been for his "career" calling plays.

How many years has be been an OC?

Then how many years has he had a good offense?

Calculate the percentage, it aint good.

Have to sit him down and say, sorry Shula. You should have never been put in this position, to begin with.

We want and demand the best in Carolina and I think you can admit your track record has not been the best.

You can go back to being a QB coach here if you like.

Shula comes up with the system, and sends in the plays during the game. Cam is allowed to audible out based on the defense, and even has options once the ball is snapped.  That system led to the best offense in the league in 2015, and a train wreck in 2016.  What do you think changed in those two years?

More like what didn't change and Shula warned Dave about that. Needless to say I doubt he will ignore Shula agian.

In Shula's case, it never should have begun.

Hope we never hire some lame duck retread again.

This is why we truly hate the offseason....because blithering idiots like you come out of the woodwork.

All that counts is what he has done here. So far we are 40-24 if I did the math right with him as OC. Best record of any OC we have had. What he did before coming here is irrelevant. Do you think belichick has to answer to how he did at Cleveland to NE fans.

I agree, in large part. I think what we have to hang our hat on, is the fact that the writing seems to be on the wall. If our offense fails again, Shula is gone and I think he knows it. I think he assumed that they could keep doing the same things, last year, as in 2015 and we would continue to dominate. He knows now that isn't the case.

IN 2015, when we were 15-1, Shula criticism died.

In 2016, with a makeshift line, Benjamin coming off surgery, and a QB with a shoulder injury, we won 6 games and the naysayers came back.

If you need to blame Shula for every problem on offense, it shows that your football acumen is extremely limited.  Yes, there are times when I disagree with Shula, but how do you point at Shula and praise Gettlemen?  I love DG, frankly, but people have short memories--they forget where we were when he boarded the train.

When Ted Ginn is your #1 WR---a player who never was more than #4 and PR for 2 other teams--and you go to the SUPER BOWL as the favorite---and MIke Remmers is your RT-- where was your criticism then?

All you guys have to do is watch the games again.

Look at Oline specifically in 2015 and again in 2016.

Hell go back to any year we have had success and look at the Oline play.

In 2015 for large stretches, you couldn't get to Cam.  Yea there were breakdowns, but nowhere near as consistent as last year.  It got especially atrocious once Kalil went down.

Good to fairly good defenses followed the same scheme.  If you kept someone in to block, they blitzed.  If you didn't Cam would hold the ball to long going for the big play instead of the checkdown, which he would go to only when under pressure.

Does Shula make some dumb calls?  Yeah every OC does.  However you add, the receivers who get the least amount of separation in the league, with a bottom 5 offensive line, our best RB catching out of the backfield is probably the slowest.  Our best RB out of about 5 games, our QB nursing a shoulder injury for who knows how long, probably undocumented concussions from all the illegal hits to his head.  Oh and add, the 1st half of the year, our defense played like Poo Poo.

You guys blame Shula and Charles Godfrey for everything that goes wrong with the team.  It's doesn't make sense if you just sit back and actually watch everything as a whole.

We were 15th in offense, but 26th in defense, but everything was Shula's fault.  It's like Trump blaming everything on Obama around here sometimes.

Flash in the pan.

Most of us are looking at the entire body of work.

If you look at the entire body of work, clear as day Shula is not and was never a top flight OC.

shula did make us the highest scoring offense in 2015

And that was without our #1 WR. Seriously, how many of you thought our offense would be anywhere close to that good after KB got hurt in TC? A lot of people were saying it was only because of Cam, but if you're going to give him all the praise when things are good, you also have to give him a lot of the blame when things go bad. You can obviously blame the O-line injuries too but the QB is certainly not without blame. It's ridiculous to put it all on Shula.
