I hope so, just still seems weird he's our WR coach with little experience there, and most recently a college RB coach. Seems like he was hired just to coach samuel and mcaff

It's hard not to say that Taylor didn't try to oversell McCaffrey when he used the phrase "Kuechly DNA" in his pitch to Gettleman. A guy who breathes, eats and dreams about football. In those 30 seconds, Lance sold McCaffrey to Gettleman, and it wasn't an unanimous decision either. 

 

He may not have decided to take McCaffrey at 8 but the decision to find faster shiftier players and to find a fast slot receiver were likely decided long before the draft. The fact we picked up Sheppard in free agency for example speaks for the need for speed and quickness.

Do you really think moving from college to the NFL is ever a lateral move.? Get real. There are hundreds of teams in college and 32 in the NFL. More elite and prestigious by any standards. 

As for not overselling McCaffrey they are his words not mine. And trust me Gettleman doesn't make decisions on someone's word or recommendation. He watched all the film and made his own decision. He has said numerous times he gathers input but he ultimately makes the final decision.  And who was against the pick? 

The whole idea that we brought in Taylor to take over Shula's job is ridiculous. And the idea that Gettleman is bringing in players to match Taylor's desires and strengths and not Shula's take these conspiracy theories to a new level. You guys want Shula gone so much you have started embracing delusional fantasy thinking.

Oh yes, the prestigious honor was ever so impressive that Taylor split from us back in 2013 to join Stanford as a RB coach (along with a big raise and opportunity to advance his coaching career). Now he's back four years later as another position coach because...? He likes traveling? He loves Carolina too much? If he valued his position in coaching RBs in the NFL, he would've stayed. He didn't.

In addition, Taylor was one of the biggest reasons why Bryce Love joined Stanford. Lance got his guy. Why would he leave just to coach in the NFL again knowing he was going to boast his reputation with another potential stud at Stanford?

Let's cut the crap. We all know Gettleman does his homework. If he didn't, he wouldn't be here. With that said, the ESPN and Charlotte Observer articles alluded to Taylor's pitch in the final seconds when the options of Howard or trading down or etc etc etc were evident. Dave chose to go with McCaffrey last second. He took almost two minutes to make that choice. Longest in his tenure here for a first round pick.

Who says Lance was JUST brought in to be Shula's replacement? If anything, Gettleman and Rivera listened to Proehl's "recommendation" and sought Taylor out to evolve our offense... BUT let's not kid ourselves either. Shula has only one season to turn it around or he's gone. Who else is on deck? You know damn well we typical hire guys who our organization is familiar with or who have connections with us.

Obviously you are entrenched in your conspiracy fantasies and logic has no sway here so I won't persist when there is no hope to influence you. You want to believe that a position coach with no experience as a coordinator is heir apparent then keep up the delusions. If you really believe that Taylor was more influential than Shula, Rivera, Gregory or anyone else, keep those thoughts. If you think that McCaffrey was a last second pick even though multiple sources told us he was a leading candidate if guys like Adams , Thomas and Fournette were gone for weeks leading up to the draft, continue that uninformed dialogue . I will leave it at that. You obviously have some kind of ability to see connections which have eluded 99% of the rest of us on this site.

I am not a fan of Shula and have posted many times that I want him gone.

That said, Lance is not being groomed to replace Shula.  Didn't we hire someone that was supposed to help Shula a couple years ago?  Hell I can't remember his name.

In the end this offense is Shula's and that Lance will help revamp our offense.  I am certain that he'll help with new plays to utilize our new talent.  Don't forget the NFL Motto,  You gotta Run the Ball, Stop the Run and Pressure the QB.

We still have Stewart and I don't think we are going to stop running the ball and throw 50 times a game.  What I do think might happen is give Cam the option to audible more.  With CMC and Samuel as well as Stewart on the field at the same time.  Defenses are going to have to pick a poison each play.   Cam can read off that and run it or throw it.  Lance will help with plays to take advantage of that freedom Cam will have.

Could he be in the pipeline to be an OC.  Of course.  As much as I would love the idea of replacing Shula.  To take an offense that dominated in 2015 and start over with a "Questionable OC" is insane.

I am glad he is here.  I think he'll help improve our offense to a point that we can be explosive on every play. 

Bottom line, he is a Panther coach and his goal is the same as every other coach on this staff and that is to do their part in winning.

Everything since then just confirms I was right once again like usual.

So the evolution of Shula's Offense hinged on a WR Coach from Stanford being hired? Thank God he didn't sign with another team, CMC/Samuel being snatched before us or Myles Garret falling to 8 didn't happen or Shula's grandiose plan would be all but ruined.
