That might have been what convinced the Panthers to target him rather than grab Zane earlier.

Not sure how you have a kicker competition in camp. Gano doesnt have a lack of talent and i bet he rarely misses in practice, his problem is he's a choker that only seems to miss when we cant afford it and the game is in the line, kinda hard to  simulate those pressure situations in practice

Thats my point though. Im sure everyone that literally kicks for a living can at least compete with eachother in a practice setting but so much of being a good kicker is being able to come through in pressure situations which are hard to simulate in practice. Its like how Dwight Howard can't make a free throw in a game but his teammates and coaches will tell you he makes like 90% in practice

Who cares?  A lot of info on that site but Walt himself is just a nerd that started off in his parents basement.  He's simply using what info he himself can find on the net and what a few are willing to give him.  Scouting kickers is different than other positions and Walt himself never had a private workout with Butker.  After absorbing all the info I'm convinced we like this guy better than Gonzalez.  Fine.  The 53 yarder that absolutely split the uprights against UGA to tie it says a lot.

zane gonzalez had a very bad pro day. he was missing kicks from both hash marks.

this kid did not. could be a reason the panthers worked him out.
