He could have.......or he could have been picked right after us. Nobody knows, that's why you take YOUR guy and not worry about someone plucking him from you.

Yeah I understand that but context here.  FB is a low value postion. There are lots of FBs or guys who could be FBs. I didn't follow day 3 but was this guy the highest a FB was taken? Was he the highest rated FB on big boards? Is this a guy you're gonna worry about missing out on? We missed Zane Gonzalez by 5 spots in the 7th round. A kicker will have a huge impact on games on a weekly basis.

Panthers need a 2nd TE to make the spread offense work .

You should look into this thing called Free Agency. The Panthers are and have plenty of cap space. So quit your fugging constant whining.

Couldn't this guy have been picked up as a UDFA? Not seeing the 6th rd value here.

31 teams were represented at his pro day.  Multiple teams brought him in for private visits according to Gettleman.

Given that he played at West Georgia - which had exactly two NFL prospects - I'd say other teams had legitimate interest.

Also worth keeping in mind that most 6th/7th round picks are graded as "Priority Free Agents" on team draft boards.

I'll write-up a bit more on him tonight, but right now I see a solid blocking Tight End playing Y with the blocking of a monster. Looks like a hybrid TE/FB from what I'm seeing, and may just be the 2nd TE AND FB we're looking for all in one.

More on that coming soon. Gettleman knew what he was doing, and color me impressed.

He certainly has the measurable and the desire for he game, but I just wish we could have seen him against better competition. Also, what was he doing playing in such a small school in the first place? How did this kid not get a big time scholarship? I can definitely see why NFL teams were interested though and I will definitely be pulling for him. It would be awesome if he could grab that starting FB spot and never look back but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

SI did a good writeup of his backstory:

Honestly, this is exactly what I was thinking and wrote about it the other thread and didn't even see this post! He will be a huge key to helping create mismatches! He will be able to be the blocking fullback, the blocking TE in a 2 TE set and has the speed to catch passes if needed. I was curious about this selection but now I am on board.

This has been a weird draft. All the players alone would be good players but combining them together makes them all stronger and more impactful!
