Hey Dave we know you don't give a poo about the safety position..

If you watched that draft and all you can come away with is "Where is the SS, DG?!!" then you weren't paying attention.Gettlemen had his best draft.

1. The focus was on offense.  We have bigger WRs that tend to take more time to get open.  We had Remmers at T.  Our RB was a between the tackles guy.  Ginn could not catch long balls and Brown disappeared at a position that should be setting the stadium on fire.

  1. So Gettlemen gets an electrifying RB who can catch out of the backfield, One with great speed, vision and intelligence.
  2. So Gettlemen gets a slot that runs a 2.9 40 or something.  He can also run the ball out of the backfield.  Oh my.
  3. So Gettlemen gets a RT that is intelligent and (IMO) underrated because he played G in college at times, and everyone knows tackles that play G in college become guards in the pros--nope--the man is a RT and going to be very good one.
  4. So Gettlemen gets rid of Tolbert whose only lead block was at Golden Corral and drafts a versatile FB who can play TE (catch the ball, wing etc) and loves to crack heads.

THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT WERE MISSING LAST YEAR FROM THE OFFENSE.  ON DEFENSE....

  1. So Gettlemen drafts a 6-5, 260lb DE by trading up--one to groom behnd Peppers and CJ.  A developmental player (most all DEs out of college are) with huge upisde
  2. So Gettlemen finds a heck of a nickel in the fifth round that likes to tackle.  Who was our nickel last year?  I can't remember.
  3. So Gettlemen finds a kicker to challenge another inconsistency last year, one that cost us at least 2 games.

To answer your question about SS:

You are forgetting Adams, a seasoned veteran.  He already upgraded Boston, if only for a year.  You may also be discounting their estimation of Marlowe.  Let's see what he has.

You are like the kid on Christmas morning who, after opening dozens of gifts, can only talk about the Tickle-me-Elmo that his parents could not get because they ran out of money and they did not see the value in overspending for a trending toy.

Would Pryer even be able to start here? People need to realize that the players themselves have their own agenda too and I'm betting that this guy wants to go somewhere he is guaranteed to start. I'm sure Barnidge feels the same way. Why would he want to go from being the star receiving TE to a full time blocker who will never have his name called on Sportcenter?

I wish alot of you would take Dave's ass crack out your mouth long enough to see this thread really isn't attacking your boo thing .. Beside the one line about Dave not putting alot in to the safety position which he hasn't.. It's more about my want to get a steal from the jets.. So please keep this bulll poo novel/love letter to Gman to yourself..

Can't even have conversation without the Gman cheer squad feeling like you're attacking the lord almighty .. Some of you are getting worse than the bee hive...

By the same token, he's not a bad GM just because he doesn't run right out and sign every player that fans like. Our starting safeties are set, barring injury, so why would Pryer want to come here in the first place? This is a two way deal. Dave can't make anybody sign here.

So you want to trade a draft pick for a guy who is probably going to be released? If you trade him you also inherit the contract that he isn't worth.

$1.5 million.  Peanuts by NFL standards.  If he sucks here he sucks, no risk.  Swap late picks next year.  Easy.

A 6th or 7th wouldn't hurt and his contract isn't poo..

We did this with mitchell and colemen it worked before..

Pryor would be subject to the waiver wire, so if you think a team ahead of you wants him you'd have to workout a trade.

Mad for his contract, he's in his final year and the Jets would have to eat the guaranteed money. He'd cost another team $1.5M this season.

No team in the salary cap era is without flaws.  I'm not a guy that values safeties more than other positions either, I desperately wanted Barnett at 8, but I can objectively see from a wide lense a job very well done by GMan getting value and needs overall.  I'm very happy.

But our safety situation is below average at best and potentially catastrophic at worse.  A young, talented guy like Pryor seems almost too good to be true and can be had for "anything".

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
