He played TE at West Georgia too, so probably.

Really an H-back that will also fill the fullback role.

Welp, here's our FB/TE

 

STRENGTHS

 Durable and tough. Two-way player who was named all-conference first team defensive end and second team tight end. Thick through his chest and lower body carries good mass. Pumped out 26 bench reps. Has experience as in-line blocker against bigger foes. Has desired demeanor to be a blocker. Has athleticism in space and is a viable consideration as blocker/pass-catcher in two-back scheme.

WEAKNESSES

 Will need much more experience as a lead blocker. Spent most of his time as a tight end and will have to learn to find targets in space and land a blow on them. Is a little too short to be considered for h-back or move tight end duties. Needs to bring his feet with him through contact for better block sustaining.

BOTTOM LINE

 Armah has some talent to build on, but finding the right positional fit for him is the first challenge a team will face. Teams seem to be split on where to play him with some seeing outside linebacker, some seeing inside linebacker and some seeing him as a fullback. I see him as a lead blocker pairing with a zone-heavy team looking for some size and ability to catch the ball out of play-action.

He never visited or interviewed for Carolina, so I highly doubt he was on our War Room's radar.

I honestly like the pick will be another special teams ace and a big h back out the back field this team is about to be extremely versatile

So Im really liking the Armah pick the more I read about him. Seems like he can be the true FB we've been looking for with an added bonus of being able to catch.

I can see us carrying both Young and Armah and cutting CAP. Young and Armah battling for the starting FB spot, Young possibly mentoring Armah, with both being able to contribute on special teams. CAP's value is almost null on the team with adding CMC and Samuel and adding other guys that can play special teams.

Did the kid we just drafted do either?

Woods was on the east Shrine Bowl team. Our DB coach was a coach for that team. That's a pretty solid connection for a late round pick.
